Guillermina and Roberto are amazing hosts. I usually stay in an independent apartment when I’m in Cuba so I was a bit hesitant to stay with a family. However, GyR seamlessly offered both privacy and independence while also providing conversation and company when needed. The room has a comfy bed, plenty of storage, en-suite bathroom, fridge and AC. Breakfast options were varied and portions huge. GyR don’t host for the money but to truly connect with their guests and make sure their time in Havana is fruitful. I can’t wait to stay with them again.
My family (parents, spouse, child) traveled to Havana for a baseball trip. Our itinerary had us out of the house as early as 8:30 a.m. and returning sometimes around 10 p.m. Guillermina and Roberto were very accommodating, ensuring we always left with our bellies full. Breakfast was tailored to my child's picky eating habits. The juice was one of my favorite things - always made from fresh fruit and different every day. Roberto even made us dulce de coco from a coconut we had purchased for its water.
The rooms were spacious and clean. My parents had their own room and bathroom. Our room had a king and twin bed, and bathroom giving us space to relax. While we weren't able to take advantage of it because of our hectic schedule, there was also a nice sitting area over looking calle 23.
Guillermina, Roberto and the woman who seved breakfast were very kind and welcoming. They often asked how the baseball games went, gave us suggestions on places to visit, and overall ensured that our stay was enjoyable. We truly enjoyed our stay and getting to know a little bit about our host family.
Really enjoyed staying with Roberto and Guillermina. They provided a generous breakfast and lots of friendship. Their guest rooms at the back of the apartment, away from the busy street, self contained with your own bathrooms. Nice set up.
My husband and I spent one night at this colonial style casa in Vedado area of Havana. We were welcomed warmly by Roberto. It truly had the feeling of my home is your home. We were introduced to his visiting family. At 4 AM, Roberto had already prepared for us a delicious breakfast in order for us to make our 5 AM taxi pickup. We stayed at 4 other casa particulares. It was this one that we got the feeling we were expecting on our stays in Cuba. Welcoming, accommodating, interesting conversations and the feeling that we were part of the family. I suggest that you reserve the room directly through Roberto. I wish his wife a quick recovery.
Roberto and his wife Guillermina hosted us really well at their clean and nice house. Breakfast and the room was good, more important is their hospitality and friendliness was unforgettable. The neighborhood is quite good, location is not so close to old city but can easily reach there for 5-6 CUCs.
If I go to Havana again one day, I would look for staying at their house.
The only thing I wouldn't do is, to trust their friend (or some relative) for arranging trip to Trinidad. It was one of the worst journeys of my life, but clearly it wasn't Roberto's fault.
