We've visited Victoria many times. Over the years we've stayed at many nice hotels but I have to say that none of our hotel experiences rival our stay at the Union Club. We thought it was a members only club and although we admired the architecture and the ideal location it never occurred to us that we could stay there. Now we know it's open to the public, we will become regular guests. We felt like honoured guests from the moment we checked in to our check out 3 nights later. We had a lovely suite. Every day we had breakfast in the dining room. Breakfast was great as was the service. Our dinner at the Union Club was incredible, the service was great. The facilities are open to hotel guests. The gym is well equipped. The entire experience was extraordinary thanks in a large part to Jonathan, the Front Office Supervisor.
The view was lovely and the concierge that we saw in the afternoon, Jonathan, was super friendly and helpful. The view was lovely as we could see the harbour from every window.
The hotel had historical charm and the gym was very well equipped surprisingly.
It was right beside the Empress hotel so well located. There is also a terrace to enjoy on the first floor.
· Having a dress code for dining area, library and some other member areas wasn't my favourite but there are many restaurants in the area that were excellent. They do warn you about the dress code via email a few days before you arrive. The water was not very hot so showers were quick. No air conditioning but they had a fan.
Fantastic reception from Jonathan, who took time to answer questions carefully and give great recommendations. Wonderful room. Excellent facilities (there is a great gym!). Great breakfast in a lovely dining room. The Club exudes calm and quality.
This 3-day, 3-night stay was above and beyond. We had a delightful suite with a view of the harbor. The linens were fresh, the windows opened to let the clean Victoria air blow in, the space clean, everything wonderful. The food (free breakfast for guests) amazing and the coffee strong. We played chess in the library, took a steam in the gym's steam room, and met some locals in the bar. We can hardly wait to return!
Right beside the Empress without the Empress price! I am member of an affiliated club so get a great deal but for those that like the inns of the U.K. It has a lot of the same flavour even if you are a guest. Comfortable beds, complimentary guest laundry, gym, lounge and dining facilities. Close to it all in the inner harbour.
