Check in was very good we were upgraded to a King size bed from Queen sized. It was huge as was the room. . All staff were helpful and friendly. We paid $10 dollars each for tickets for breakfast which was a good deal for a very good breakfast. Swimming pool and gym looked ok but didn't use them. There was a sports team running around one morning getting in the way and making noise but this was the only negative during our stay. Went across the road to the bus station to get a bus to the Downtown area which was ok but we had to have the exact $3.50 for the ticket ( Hasn't Ottawa heard of contactless cards?)

I spent four nights here on my most recent stay. I have been coming here since it was the Chimo so there's been some adjusting for me. Overall it meets my basic requirements: quiet, clean and good staff. Bed comfy comfy and the room is very dark which helps me to sleep really well. Warm pool, fast elevators, nice gym. Wireless signal mostly good. Have not tried the restaurant. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Remember to ask for your fridge and microwave in advance if you want one in your room since there are not enough to go around for every room (?). Although the place has been renovated, some of the heaters are louder than others. Beware that many young persons sport teams stay here with their families on certain floors on weekends and can be loud-ask to stay off those floors if you don't want to hear the races in the hallways, etc. Good overall!

The hotel looks new brand new on the inside. as do the rooms. They are spacious and clean with modern finishes.
The gym is a little small but has new equipment and I never waited for a machine.
But ...
The only reason I am writing this review is that the front desk and kitchen staff went out of their way to provide me with liquid dish detergent so I could wash my son's hockey team's water bottles after each game. They even brought it to my room! Who does this?
Thanks!

After a very busy month at work, we decided to head on a trip to Montreal and Quebec. Since we were driving from Toronto and stopped over at Kingston to visit the land of Thousand Islands, we decided to take a break in Ottawa and visit the capital city of Canada. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East who welcomed us with open arms, they made us feel that we were at home. Right from our check-in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception, we loved every bit of our stay at this wonderful full service Holiday Inn hotel in Ottawa. When in Ottawa, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly a must visit!

Location:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

Holiday Inn Ottawa East is located just minutes from downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, Ottawa’s various award winning national museums, Byward Market and the Casino du Lac Leamy. Since the hotel is conveniently located off St. Laurent Boulevard at the Queensway Highway 417, it is a very easy access when visiting downtown Ottawa. So if you are looking for a comfortable hotel which is not very pricey and yet close to the Ottawa downtown, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly the place to be in.

Service/Staff:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

What we loved about the hotel most is the friendliness of the staff. They were happy in their work and it shows in their guest dealings. They were eager to help us and to make us comfortable at all times.

Right from check in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception to our room service or the restaurant staff, everyone was very professional and showed true Canadian hospitality.

The reception staff took time to explain us about the area, places to visit and even printed maps and details for our references.

We had an opportunity to meet the General Manager Jean-Pierre Benjamin who took pride in his work and was even seen serving coffee to guests.

We also met Chef Reza the oldest working Chef at the hotel for over 30 years and now has a restaurant in the hotel named after him.

Rooms:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9

Since we were 3 adults and 2 kids, we were offered a junior suite. The suite was newly renovated, "smoke free" designed with a taste and style to make us feel right at home.

Our one-Bedroom Suites featured a separate living room and bedroom with 2 queen beds. The upgraded amenities included, a cozy bathrobe, lounge chair, mini fridge and work desk with chair. We absolutely loved free high speed Wi-Fi access. Both rooms have individually controlled A/C thermostats.

There is usually no microwave in the room, but the hotel was kind enough to give us one upon request.

F&B Facilities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):-8

We came to know that the only restaurant in the hotel got its name from Chef Reza, the oldest chef still working with the company. We met Chef Reza at work who has been working in the hotel for over 30 years. The initiative speaks very highly about the company and its vision.

The restaurant, Reza's Kitchen offers a great tasting menu that caters to the varied tastes of its customers. From their delicious gourmet stuffed hamburgers to pastas, right through to our decadent assortment of desserts, the entire menu is a signature item.

The restaurant served Ala-Carte breakfast and gets very busy during breakfast which in turn causes the service to be a bit slow. Though the staff made every effort to serve as quickly as possible with a smile but a breakfast buffet would be a good idea to make things move faster in the restaurant.

The hotel also offers 8 meeting rooms in various sizes for business travelers and corporations.

Spa/Pool:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

There is a smaller indoor pool in the hotel (which we did not have a chance to use). The pool looked clean with guests enjoying the facilities. There is a complimentary Fitness Center with universal machine, Treadmill Rowing Machine, free weights, bikes, TV and Floor mats.

Activities:-

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8

Located with direct access to Highway 417, the hotel puts guest’s minutes from the Ray Chabot Grant Thornton Baseball Stadium, the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Via Rail Station and Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport.

The Holiday Inn Ottawa East is just steps away from fantastic shopping at St. Laurent Shopping Mall and a quick drive to Place d’Orleans.

Spent two nights at a conference. A very modern and comfortable renovation. Great service, food, and accommodation. Feels more like a boutique hotel!!! Wonderful POOL and nice fitness center.
A very easy drive by car or transit (Transit hub across the street) to downtown Ottawa and all the sites.
A major shopping mall is a 2 minute walk from the hotel.
