An absolutely idyllic and beautiful home away from home,
We were met by Penny who explained everything to us and showed us our beautiful barn style room and also the large open plan communal living room area, both absolutely blown away by the decor and relaxed feel.

Set in an amazing area of countryside away from any busy roads but close enough to go to Hastings Old Town and Rye.

We will definitely be going back !!

The Shed has been the perfect place to escape to. Thank you Penny for making us feel so welcome. We had a wonderful room & woke up to a lovely breakfast every morning that Penny had left prepared for us on a tray. Would also highly recommend Penny’s lasagne & homemade cake & ice cream...& homemade preserves that you can buy. We were very lucky to have the whole place to ourselves, but would love to return with friends. A fantastic open plan kitchen & lounge area, full of character is a perfect place to relax. The swimming pool with it’s wonderful views made the stay idyllic.

We absolutely loved our long sunny Easter weekend at The Shed.
The shed itself is beautifully converted cow shed that now has a cosy rustic kitchen/dining/lounge area that is shared by both bedrooms, although we had it to ourselves. At the other end of the building it has 2 bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms (1 with a bath, 1 with a walk-in shower), both bedrooms are lovely so you would be happy with either.
The views from the property are fantastic, overlooking the valley/hills towards Brede. You get a lovely sunset from the outside seating area if the weather allows it!
The location is great for exploring the countryside, but also only 10-15 mins away from Pett Level beach and Hastings. It is a great location if you are bringing a dog and the shed is dog friendly (our Lab loved it!).
In the evening the lounge area is very cosy with an open log fire and Sonos music system in all rooms.
We stayed for 3 nights and spent all of them dining in the shed as it was so lovely. On 2 nights we had a lovely dinner provided by Penny (Chicken Pie & Lasagne) with pudding. We didn't feel the need to go out in the evening as we could have a drink, watch the sunset, enjoy a lovely meal without cooking and sit by the open fire with pudding and the dog by your feet (perfect!)
The pool is also a lovely addition, we swam every day and used the steam room.
This is at the top of our list of places to re-visit again in the future :)

Some of the local things we did that we would recommend:
Pett Level Beach
Rye & Rye Harbour (William the Conqueror Pub)
Brede High Woods & Reservoir
Hastings country park
Camber sands (if its not too busy!)

Just spent 4 days at the shed, had a great time, greeted by Penny, room was fantastic, spacious and full of character with all the additions you would need during your stay, very quiet and peaceful location, well off the beaten track, enjoyed our swimming in the pool, food was excellent all prepared and served by Penny, we had an evening meal prepared by Penny which was gorgeous with all home grown veg, salad, bread etc. the dining room makes a comfortable evening lounge to sit and read in front of log fire. Good wi-fi if you feel the need to keep in touch. We took Bonnie our greyhound who also enjoyed her stay with lots of walks around the site. We will definitely go back again, well done Penny and thanks for making our stay so enjoyable, its 5 stars from me Phil and Eva

I was given this as a birthday treat. Penny met me on arrival and showed me into a stunning room with a roaring fire and comfortable chairs. I immediately felt relaxed and pampered. I had opted to have a treatment from Susan who was professional and experienced. I had a wonderful swim in the warm outdoor pool and this was followed by an absolutely delicious supper ( homemade chicken pie to die for, followed by home made ice cream and chocolate brownies!). Lying in my luxurious bed surrounded by candlelight, listening to the Sonos music system, I felt like a new person.
The next morning, after a delicious breakfast of home made yogurt, granola and croissants, I left determined to come back at Christmas. A perfect winter rural retreat.
This is a hidden gem of a place which I cannot recommend too highly. Penny is a wonderful hostess and cook - I even took away a pot of her home made jam!
