We choose B&B’s to enjoy the knowledge of a local host/hostess and get away from the impersonal feel of the chain hotels. La Belle Victorienne boasts a do-it-yourself ethos and this is what you get. Instructions with a key code are mailed to you and you make your own breakfast in the morning. All very impersonal and somehow a bit cold.

The house is lovely with great lounge, terrace and hot tub facilities. Our room. The ‘Exuberance’, was comfortable and well equipped. The trouble for us that they had obviously not had room for a proper bathroom. The bath (a claw foot tub – not our favourite) was actually in the bedroom. The toilet and sink were in a separate room that was as small as it could be and still function. No proper internal door handles, just magnetic catches and an annoying opening that trapped fingers.

We wish we could say something about the staff, but we never saw them!

This property exceeded my expectations. Ignore the negative reviews! First of all I’d like to say thank you to the woman who works reception. I had booked through Booking.com (we had previously been on the east coast and decided we should leave before the storm came in so We headed for Magog a day early.) Even though it was less than 24 hours notice shehelped us out by canceling and then re booked us in a day early. We ended up with a room in the Abbott Pavilion (second rental behind Belle Victorienne) as the original room we booked for the next night was already booked. The room was small but newly renovated and beautiful, the bed was very comfortable and the crawl foot tub was heavenly. Although we didn’t get to utilize them the hot tub, common living room and veranda looked very inviting. I loved the idea of the do it yourself breakfast. Coffee, espresso, tea, fruit cereal, bread, yogurt, eggs, cheese, juice we all provided in a cook/ do it yourself fashion. Full laundry facilities were also a nice bonus. The lake, bars and restaurants were all within a quick 4 minute walk. We ate and had drinks at the local brewery which we really enjoyed. I’d recommend this place to anyone planning a visit to the eastern townships.

This Inn is just fantastic. While it is a reception-less venue, the instruction that they give you are perfect: alll you need to know is included. Breakfast room is accessible 24h, and you can hava you coffee anytime you like. Rooms are spotless and nicely decorated. I was amazed to find such a nice low/mid priced solution. Kudos

Room was clean, the bed was good an shower okay.

Breakfast was "make it yourselve" but more than enough.

All promises kept.

The reason for my average is because it's very impersonal. All communication via email, met nobody from this auberge.

The room was very cute and clean and it came with a huge patio. The atmosphere in the hotel is so welcoming, friendly and warm. The decoration and ambiance in the lobby is very relaxing and beautiful. There is a kitchen, where you can use the stove, microwave and the fridge. Very well designed place, just one word 'magnifique'. I will definitely be back to spend more time.
