I stayed 2 different dates in Ibis Budget Bordeaux Centre Bastide, personaIIy l had very bad experience with one of the staffs at the reception in day time (the young lady who presented herself as a manager of the hotel) was very rude. she didnt want to keep our luggages for only 5 hours, this kind of service is minimum in Ibis hotels I believe so, I know because of l've stayed in different Ibis hotels in different countries ( Lisbon, Geveva, Istanbul, Nantes, London and Paris) She thinks all luggages of the guest has bacterias, pay attention not virus but bacteria. Amazing! of course, we are all living with bacterias probably our goods also has bacterias, if you think that deep then don’t receive any customer in your hotel !
Firstly : the toilet wasn’t clean : no matter how many time you flush the water there is always bad smell in it ( kind of urine smell)
Secondly : breakfast is very poor not meriting 6.50 euros, you better go to market and have your own food, for sure you gonna get some quality ingredients with that price, since their restaurant out of service during the covid-19 ( for me, they are profiting the situation of covid-19 which is not correct. Because other hotels keeps open their restaurants for breafast service). It’s not practical eating in the room.
Thirdly : location of the hotel is not practical, it’s far from everwhere ! if you willing to return to hotel at late in the evenning, you better be careful, it looked like not safe, since hotel located somewhere very calme and isolated from the city center.
With that price for sure you will have better room and better service.
On arrival in the middle of the night the room looked like something out of communist era Russia, however on waking it didn't appear as bad. The room was clean, freshly painted with new fitments. The toilet and shower belonged in a caravan but were perfectly useable. TV worked fine. Staff were nice and cleaning of rooms daily was efficient. The hotel is at the opposite end of the main bridge from Bordeaux centre, a 15 minute walk away. A supermarket is immediately behind you. At about £35 a night room only how could you complain?
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights with my brother and sister in law and it was enough for us, enough to explore the Bordeaux Christmas Markets. Our room although smelt like cigarette, I had to air the room out when we went out and then when we came back it was like a freezer still with quite a bad smell. Besides that, it has all the basics you need!
Hotel is clean and tidy enough for a budget hotel, had aircon and is located across the river to the old town. Takes about 15 mins to walk or can get a tram easy enough.
Room was ok but avoid if you don’t like very hard beds.
Well worth paying extra for the standard Ibis hotel located next door if you can.
The room had a great air conditioning system which was lovely to cool us down after a long day of walking around Bordeaux in the summer heat. The breakfast food was simple, with only continental food options, no hot food, however this was expected for such an affordable stay. The bathrooms in the rooms were very clean, my only complaint would be that the towels were quite thin almost like a cloth napkin so if u stay here i’d recommend bringing your own towel if you want to be dry. The hotel was a 15 minute walk from some of the best tourist attractions and restaurants in Bordeaux which was great because we could walk to and from the restaurants without worrying about driving.
