It had been 43 degrees during the afternoon when we arrived at the hotel. After a few reviving San Miguels we went into the restaurant for a really good meal. I had the steak and it was delicious. Then we retired for the evening, looking forward to a nice cooling shower or bath after such a long day in the car. However, the local water supply was kaput. We approached the hosts and they explained that the whole village was affected. No one had any mains water. But we couldn't even wash or brush our teeth. It was a great pity. This place was a long way from the main roads and was well off the beaten track. It was pretty driving through the hills and forestry. The hosts were very helpful and charming. The hotel was very clean and comfortable with a great balcony to sit on outside our room. But the lack of water put us off from chancing a visit when we returned to the area on our drive back into France.

The drive from the south was slow but so picturesque with horses and foals and cattle wandering around on the road. Eventually you reach the village which appears to be in the middle of nowhere. Our room was lovely with a little veranda. The village is charming and worth an exploratory walk around, although don't stroke the dogs if you don't want to be followed around by a little Manchester like terrier! We had a delicious meal in the restaurant and loved our stay. The drive out to the north is spectacular and it was a real surprise when we came across this amazing gorge with huge vultures cruising around.

We stayed 2 nights in this great place, beside the specious room and the beautifully, happy, full of life and love decorated hotel, we got the best hospitality one can wish from the charming couple Caroline and Daniel. Caroline is full of life and love, happy to assist in any way and Daniel that beside great service and help is a blessed chef and cooked us two delicious dinners and a light supper, the breakfast is also cozy and delicious. The village of Laguna de cameros is a quiet and quite an empty village perfect place as a base to track in the beautiful nature around and to rest and of course to enjoy from the hospitality of Caroline and Daniel
