*This apartment had some great things going for it yet also a number of items that really detracted from our pleasure...
*Prior to our arrival, Maria - the manager or owner - was immediate and helpful in her response to my queries. We met her at the apartment and she was very helpful with her suggestions of things to do, etc. It makes a difference to be able to meet the person we're renting from.
*The bedroom was large with a queen bed (that had wonderfully clean and comfortable sheets) and a couch. There were windows looking out on to the street 4 floors below and high ceilings with beautiful ceiling medallions. The location was top notch with restaurants, fruit/vegie stores, artisanal gelato café, and a classy Italian clothing store nearby. Plus, the fantastic city view from the park Jardim de S. Pedro de Alcantara.
*The detractions were...
1) While we were in our apartment bedroom, lying on the hard mattress, we kept hearing someone using a key to get into an adjacent apartment. The key noise was so loud that many times we thought someone was coming into our apartment. Then, in fact, someone did come into our apartment totally unannounced. We think they came in to get cleaning supplies from a closet near our entry door. Nevertheless, this incident upset us and made us feel very uncomfortable.
2) If one expects to cook in this apartment it is a challenge - No counter space! The tiny refrigerator is about 6' up on a shelf (at times we need climb on a chair to use it!). The freezer part of the frig was all frosted up and of little use.
3) The TV didn't work and the shower head was broken. Maria already knew of these issues and should have fixed them prior to our arrival, She did offer to have a repairman come and fix these two items while we were residing there but no one ever came to do the repairs. Also, the bathroom towel hooks were broken.
*We feel that considering everything the rent was expensive.

The location is perfect - in the midst of all the bars and restaurants you may want to visit. There is however a bit of road noise when the weekend rolls around (especially the rubbish collectors)

The room was huge, we walked through the reception area, then a dining area with small kitchen and plenty cupboards before we reached our enormous ensuite bedroom. Quite a nice surprise as I did not realise how big the place was. The finishings are great with some interesting wall decals. A pity about the late checkin charge but understandable given the small size of the block. Service was excellent, we got some good hints of what to do and where.

We really did not spend too much time indoors so we felt we did not utilize half the space. But we did feel like we were living the high life in this huge place.

Would def recommend

We stayed in the gorgeous and very spacious 2-bedroom app aptly named Marques (de Pombal). The apartment is a whopping 120m2, featuring a very tasteful interior with beautiful (antique) furniture in combination with all the modern equipment that one would need (properly working speedy wifi!). The place was clean and generously endowed with linen and towels.

The apartment is situated in the very old center of the city, conveniently close to public transport granting easy access to trains and busses and subsequently Lisbon's surrounding beaches.

We were greeted by the owner (or caretaker?) of the property who was very friendly and helpful, but also very flexible with checking-in and out times.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this amazing apartment and would recommend it to anyone, great value for your money.
