We were due to stay at the Tropicana Inn from 29 July, but our flight was cancelled and rescheduled to 5 August. As we also had a week booked in Parga, it meant changing our booking at the Tropicana to start on 12 August (so, Parga first, then Nydri, instead of the reverse).
Liana and Nicos couldn't have been more helpful - very flexible and understanding of the difficulties we are all facing in these challenging times.
We were warmly welcomed on arrival and our third floor room had a small balcony which had the perfect view of the nearby islands of Sparti and Skoprpios. The room was a good size for two, with ample storage for clothes and suitcases, meaning it was easy to keep tidy.
Nicos and his family keep the hotel spotless and clean. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the pool was closed while we were there, as was the buffet dining room, but food and snacks were available in the poolside bar which is light and airy. We ate and drank there a couple of times - good value and tasty breakfast!
Tropicana is well-located for a walk into Nydri (about half an hour) or a quick drive there. The hotel has ample off-road parking available.
There is a small beach just across the road, which is perfect for a morning dip to start the day, and further north up the coast are small resorts with beaches that make a nice day out.
All in all, we had a great stay at Tropicana - helped by the friendliness of Liana, Nico and his lovely daughters.
First time in Lefkada - hotel Tropicana Inn - a nice place , close to the hart of the city , not too expensive. In front of the hotel is a small port , and i may say a small beach ( if u are not too fancy ). the rooms are not too old , they are updated in a way - nothing new - but the most important - IS CLEAN .The hotel has a swiming pool area , with private bath and showers , a bar outside . What is nice is that at the store down the road u can buy things and have them delivered to your room .
You should not come with expectations. The sheets were not changed, towels after 3 days I strongly urged to be changed, the bathroom is not hygienic, with the surprise to find ants in the shower area.
Breakfast is almost non-existent in what is included in the payment of the accommodation, and if you want an omelette or something decent you will have to pay extra.
The swimming pool program changes to the liking of those who run the site.
And the smiles of employees exist as long as you ask for nothing.
And as my totally unpleasant personal experience, I advise you not to keep valuable belongings or money in the room over the day while you are away. There is the chance to experience the same unpleasant experience as mine in which you are totally powerless to demonstrating the sudden disappearing of things or money and the fact that nobody knows anything.
It is the worst location I have ever met and does not honor Lefkada.
If you do not want to spoil a superb vacation, my personal opinion is to AVOID this hotel.
The hotel was ok, but it was a little dated, even for that greek charm. The room had AC and a sea view, which was great. The breakfast on the other hand was included and it was the same every single day (that would not have been such a big issue if it had a little more variety).
Just came back from Tropicana Inn. The hotel is located along the main road in the middle of the eastern side of the island. Do not worry about the noise of the car, it is almost disregardble, even if you have front see view room. But be sure to take something for the mosquitoes, or you will spend your evenings inside your room instead of enjoying the cafe on the balcony. Of course, if you decide to spend the evening at the hotel. The staff is friendly, always smiling, ready to help. The rooms are cleaned every day, towels were changed twice during the ten-day stay, which is enough. The only fault is the breakfast we had as part of our arrangement. It was the same all ten days, salami, toast cheese, especially served tomatoes, cucumbers and olives, butter and jam, the cornflex that remained mostly intact. On the table there was an offer for a different breakfast, which you would naturally pay for. It left a bad impression because they went on the option that you would get bored the same breakfast sooner or later and you would have to order something. The same is true if you decide to have lunch or dinner at the hotel, the prices are too high for the quantity and variety you expect to get in the plate. It happened to us with a dinner, fish from the grill, whereby I did not get any supplement with a meal, except of dry cabbage salad. Even the wine they served us in glasses for juice not for the wine. The fish was only tasty, but we stayed hungry and the impression was that we could have eaten better for the same money or a little more money at one of the restaurants in Nidri (25 minutes by feet). They know that chance to came back at the same hotel is small, so they are trying to earn as much money from the tourists as they can, the impression that they leave to their guests does not matter. Also for those who expect for the beach to be across the hotel, and to stay only on one beach, forget about it. Choose another hotel, by mine opinion at Agios Nikitas or Vasiliki. For those who are renting scooter (we rented at I love Santos-Nidri- new piaggio medley 150cc) this hotel was good starting point. At the southern side do not miss, beautiful beaches Micros Gialos and Agiofili, Gialos on southwest side. Be my opinion Gialos was better then Porto kaciki. The nature and the view itself when going down to the beach are beautiful. On northwest side the best beach is definitely the MIlos beach, choose clear weather to go there because than you will have calm sea.Do not go anywhere without a parasol and a hand-held fridge. The sun is relentless and strong. Although the ascent to the beach is really a venture view from the hill to the sea is amazing and worth it. All in all, Lefkada left good impression, the nature is beautiful, we have seen almost all the beaches. But everything is pretty much overrated even for the tourists with bigger pocket.
