Sharon and Alvin are friendly and very accommodating hosts . They are also very helpful in planning hikes with transportation to and from the trail heads along the East Coast Trail. Their passion and hard work is evident from how clean and organized their B&B is run. There are several options of bedrooms from the main house, RV trailers, and containers, all very clean and comfortable. They have a mud room where in the morning you make your own breakfast and pack a lunch for your hike from a wide variety of options. But the highlight of our stay was enjoying several of Sharon’s appetizing and delicious four course dinners. I have no problem giving Belle Maison a 5 Star + rating even though they do not have espresso.
P.S. they also have a hot tub
We stayed at Belle Maison for 3 nights in one of the box car room. The room was impeccably clean and we'll decorated. Breakfast is self serve with numerous choices. The three dinner we enjoyed were artfully presented and delectable. Sharon is a seasoned cook. One is tempted to return just for the dinners, and pleasant inn keepers.
Our group of 10 almost filled the bed and breakfast. A couple of the rooms are in the main house but most of the accommodation is in outbuildings that vary in quality.
One room is in the bunkhouse attached to the main meeting area that also serves as the location for the self-prepared breakfast. This is NOT your typical B & B with a sumptuous breakfast! There is an old camper on the hillside above that was very unpleasant to stay in. A forty-foot steel-shipping container has been converted into two rooms with ensuite bathroom that was quite cramped and draughty.
The highlight of the visit was the exquisite dinner that that we had arranged with owners at extra charge. This B & B caters to hikers on the East Coast Trail are quite rustic, I would not recommend a stay in ant of the outbuildings but the main house accommodation was nice.
Ask questions about the room that you are offered or be disappointed.
Our trip started with Sharon greeting us at the airport. From then on our trip was truly amazing. The beauty of the land and water surrounding the harbour where we stayed was breathtaking each morning and night. We loved our sea-can room. Perfect for what you need. Alvin did such a great job with his finishings. If you needed more room to keep luggage or hiking gear they have made a place in the common room. The common room was stocked with anything one Would need for breakfast and lunch or snack time. Fresh banana bread and fruit was always on the table. You could make fresh orange juice and coffee. Its nice to make your own breakfast as all hikers have the same schedule. The hot tub was such a fantastic end to our beautiful hike each day and a extra surprise with an amazing charcuterie board! Each meal was restaurant worthy !!! Thank you so much for the time and love you put into each meal. Our last night spent with Sharon and Alvin was such a highlight of laughter and fantastic music played by this amazing woman Sharon. So talented. It was extremely hard to leave Alvin and Sharon on our last day as we made such wonderful memories. Thank you both so very much for sharing your history and love of your family and Newfoundland.
We stayed in the trailer which was comfortable even for 4 tall adults. The beds were a little shorter than our 190+ cm selves but we slept very well. The dinner was superb, definitely the best during our visit to NF. The mud room was extremely well provisioned for breakfast and for our walk to the stone arch. After 16 kms the hot tub was much appreciated Sharon and Alvin were most hospitable. Highly recommended
