By this I would like to react on the rating and comments of 'Abbastanza deluso' witten by Maximelo Milano.
I wonder if he went to the same aggriturismo where we are currently staying for a week and stil one to go.
Related to the swimming pool, I can hardly see 1 leaf floating on the water or being on the ground of the pool. The garden is magnificent and well took care off.
In every appartement is everything foreseen to have a meal outside, from table clothing, sittings for chairs to umberellas. Indeed used but still in shape. Always clean and even sheats and towels are changed after a week when you're staying 2 weeks.
In the common guest room you can serve yourself a cup of coffee or tea for which everything is foreseen, as well loan reading books, games, ... even a product you can use in case of musquito bites! For free. Outside also is BBQ is at your disposal.
We'll certainly come back.
We thought Colle sul Lago was going to be a nice base camp to explore a wonderful region. We did not expect, but were amazed to find that in itself - it is one of those ideal places and has the beautiful people you dream of finding. My wife and our friends are greater for having been there.
Anna and Giorgio Armandola are the most adorable and wonderful people we met during two weeks in Italy. During our stay they made us feel more than welcome; they made us feel like we were family. They would seek us out when we were out on the grounds (gorgeous rolling hill views, BTW) to share stories and advise for things to do/see/eat, they invited us into the tower they live in to show us their lovely home and have drinks, and Anna made us a delicious cake upon our arrival.
We rented the well-appointed three bedroom, two bathroom cabin (Solitudine) and had a great week using this as a base while exploring Tuscany and Umbria. The small town nearby of Castiglione del Lago should be added to the tourists map, as it is lovely, and has many qualities that you seek in Tuscany. There are also ALL the important sights of Tuscany or Umbria and ideal hill towns from 30-120 minutes drive.
On facilities: It is clean. The beds are comfortable. Our cabin had a main room with fireplace, kitchen & dining area stocked with coffee, the agriturismo's own olive oil & vinegar, and all the tools you need to be able to shop and eat at home. There is also an espresso machine in the nearby common room where we found games and books should we desire. We were early in the season, so the pool was not yet open - but there is one. Fishing in the lake it overlooks is popular with the locals.
Giorgio said goodnight by saying, "I wish you golden dreams". It is, apparently, when they say where he is from. My golden dream will be to return.
Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks vacation at Colle sul lago. First of all, I think you won't find better hosts than Giorgio and Anna. They were very helpful and kind. If you don't have an already planned itinerary, they will help you find beautiful places near Castiglione del Lago.
The place itself, is as beautiful and as representative for Tuscany as a house can be. They told us, Colle sul lago was the first house built in Binami, somewhere in the 19th century and you can easily recognize the style. You need time to get used to the old furniture mingled with the new (but old styled as well), but once you do you'll feel right at home.
We got to stay in an apartment named Ursa Maggiore with a terrace and beautiful view of the nearby lake.
Room was very clean and they will replace the bed and towles whenever you ask for it.
The breakast you must understand is an italian one. Not very diverse, but helps through until lunch time. If your stay is on late August, such as ours, you'll get to enjoy all kinds of fruits like figs, blackberries and sunflower seeds, tomatoes (that taste sweeter than anything I've tried).
The courtyard is full of trees and grass and benches on which you can quietly read a book and a pool to relax.
They have wifi although we had some issues with it since the traffic for a day was not enough for all the guests at that time.
One piece of advice which I ask not to ihnore is to have mosquitoes sprays with you. They ate me alive!! You can imagine with all the vegetation around and the lake so close by.
All in all, this place will prove to be a wonderful place for a quiet vacation, or a perfect come back place if you plan on visiting as much as I did.
We just returned from 10 days in Colle Sul Lago. We had a wonderful stay. We arrived late at night after a flight, and our room was prepared meticulously, together with stuff for breakfast, including eggs from the agriturismo chicken and ducks. When morning came we saw how beautiful the place is, whether its the appartment, the garden, or the whole area with the view to Montepulciano over the lake, or even just the green hills and the short drives to the nearby villages and Umbria/Tuscany destinations.
The appartment had just the right amount of space, the kitchennete was fully working and we prepared breakfasts as well as some dinners in the room.
We got great recommendations and stories from our hosts - Anna and Giorgio. They turned out to be some of the highlights of our visit.
We highly recommend Colle Sul Lago to all of our friends and anyone looking for a quiet agriturismo appartment in this area. The ability to stay for a reasonable cost, enjoy both Central Tuscany and Northern Umbria, is a recipe for a lovely vacation.
