I stayed here with my daughter for one week , the hotel is dated but very clean ,our room was very small with only one socket which was difficult for two women to dry hair and straighten hair and charge phones ect ,there was a mini fridge but it was in the bathroom so not ideal , the food was very nice and the pool area was nice .The staff on the surface were very friendly and tried to be helpful but seemed to get irritated if you asked to many questions or for information or help they would just point or show you the notice board , I guess this is because they didn’t speak English and found it difficult.
The down side to this hotel is it’s quite far from the town and the public transport is very unreliable and infrequent and taxis in Menaggio are almost non existent, there is only 3 and one always seems to be in Como! ... this left us stranded in the town one night for 2 hours after dinner and left us unable to get into the town for a booked excursion and we were not able to book one for our return to the airport, the hotel staff were very good and arranged for another member of staff to give us a lift into the town for our excursion and return flight and charged us the same price as a taxi ... if you manage to get a taxi it will be between €15-20 ...there is a path down to Menaggio that is mentioned on trip advisor and the staff told us about it but this path is a long walk and very , very dangerous the staff should never encourage anyone to take this path .There is also absolutely nothing in the surrounding area to the hotel ,the staff did direct us to a pizza parlor close by but it was closed every night , we tried it 3 nights in a row and they also tried to direct us to a nearby restaurant but we just couldn’t understand the directions or find the restaurant . So this is a very basic but nice hotel with lovely views but I would only stay again if we had a car .. there is a big car park .

Place probably never changed since it first opening. It all looks and feels outdated. Pool is the best feature. Beds still have the “horseblankets”. Food is really not good, they simmered our steaks, no grilling or whatso ever. Nothing freshly made it seems. Breakfast is very simple and ok, if you like your eggs. The lady of the house told our friends off big time upon arrival, as they should have told her they were having their 2 yr old sleep in their bed. And while it said in the booking confirmation that they could add a 2yr old in their bed for 10,-/night, she decided to argue and threat to not give them a room (unbelievable). Also dont try to make a reservation for the restaurant at half hours, it has to be a whole hour. Upon my request to change our 07.00 to a 7.30 reservation, she just responded: “8”. I asked her again because I thought she meant the group size and she just said “8” again. Very very unfriendly.

My husband and I have just returned from a break at the Hotel Merloni and had a lovely stay. This family run hotel goes the extra mile to make guests comfortable and happy. On arrival I had a problem with lost luggage they kindly helped me to make enquiries tracing it.Their help continued throughout our break .From arranging early morning coffee, croissants and a packed breakfast bag when we had an early morning trip to booking taxis and advising on places to visit. The family’s friendliness was much appreciated and made for a warm atmosphere.Colombinas warm smile always when greeting us and Roccos helpfulness when dining. The food is excellent the hotel and rooms spotless. We had an amazing mountain view and being woken by the sound of church bells was such a wonderful experience.Table tennis and a lovely swimming pool are a great way to relax and burn off the calories after the delicious pasta dishes ! The Merloni is about 10 minutes to Mennagio in a taxi or the C12 bus stops outside but there is a lovely 30 minute walk down the mountainside path if you need a bit of excercise .We hope to visit again soon and can recommend it highly .

Just returned from 6 day trip to Como.Stayed in room in annexe with wonderful view to the mountains.
Great pool for relaxation which is clean and always sunbed available.
Very clean and extremely friendly staff.
A big Thank you to the very helpful and friendly family.
We took bus into town on an evening and a taxi back which cost approx 18euros but if you factor this into your stay it is still cheaper than property in centre village with a plus if pool to relax
Thankyou again

Fantastic little find in the hills above Menaggio! The hotel staff are all absolutely lovely (with our limited Italian they all spoke great English!) and customer service was brilliant from the start - our flight was delayed so they arranged for someone to meet us outside of check in hours and from there the standard was set. A great selection for breakfast, the food on the day of the Italian bank holiday was of a superb standard (4 courses, some of the best food we had on the whole holiday!), the pool was so clean, excellent sunbeds, and grounds well maintained with beautiful views, and the rooms are comfy and have everything you need! We had a hire car and as they have ample parking it was very easy to drive to the surrounding towns for day trips and dinners! It would be very hard to find another property with these amenities so close to Menaggio for this value; my husband and I loved it and will be returning!
