Porto Venere is incredibly beautiful. We had a room with a terrace and a sea view and we never got tired of this panorama of the sea, the island, and of course the town. I'm not sure if all rooms have this view but it was fantastic. Its located right above (80-100 steps) the main square at the north end. Its a very convenient location if you don't mind a bit of a climb. Andrea is helpful and was able to drive our bags up and down from the ferry. Most taxis will not drive up the hill to the hotel, so you have to rely on Andrea to find the time .
Breakfast was good and you can they will make you some made to order eggs. We loved Porto Venere and our room with the views. The town is interesting with many restaurants, yachts, a fort, and old church, nearby islands, and plenty of places to get in the sea and swim. We really wished we could have spent more time there. If planning a trip to this region, you can consider using Porto Venere as a base. Its less than an hour ferry ride to the Cinque Terre towns and not as insanely crowded.

Portovenere is possibly the most beautiful town in the world, and the view from our room may be the best view of Portovenere. The decor of the hotel is fresh and charming, the location perfect, the garden romantically lush, the breakfast delicious, but the crowning glory of the hotel is Giovanni, the friendly and gracious proprietor. He not only met us at our arrival to help us park our car and bring our bags into our room, but he also helped us collect breakfast the next morning after we overslept. We spent our evenings on our balcony, relaxing and soaking up the gorgeous townscape lit up for the night. This was our first romantic trip overseas and we will never forget Relais Santa Caterina!

Beautiful views from our room at Santa Caterina. Room very modern and clean. Breakfast each morning was lovely. Unfortunately the weather was quite miserable most of the time we were there, but of course that is no fault of the owner. Giovanni was very responsive to my texts asking for recommendations for restaurants and points of interest. Would love to return in the future during better weather. Caution to older guests -- many steps getting to and from this property!

What a beautiful location with the most amazing views. We stayed here for a family wedding At the castle and this is one of the most beautiful places I have visited.
The views are stunning from the balcony. The room was immaculate and perfect decor for the surrounding - very romantic!!
The host was very helpful with communication beforehand and helped us with the luggage. Breakfast was superb with a great choice of pastries, ham, cheese, eggs and even cakes. Coffee as you can imagine was delicious- eat outside with the incredible view.
We have already said we will return and this will be the only place I want to stay. Thank you so much for a holiday I will never forget x
