Date of stay: July 2014Trip type: Travelled with friends
I was here for 10 days and sank into the sanctity of the hotel and its surroundings. It's a perfectly fine hotel (comfortable rooms, great breakfasts, satisfactory indoor pool) but the surroundings are what make it terrific. It's on the Ahr River and surrounded by mountains terraced to the top with grape vines. The hotel property melts into a park with beautiful gardens and gorgeous sculptured chairs to lounge on along the river. There is a wonderful playground across the footbridge and a walking path to town (10 minutes by foot). This is not a hopping town however is perfect if you want a relaxing get-away.
The only drawback was a very rude and unhappy front desk staff. I had two experiences with two different employees both of whom were rude - at best. There was also a very nice man at the desk so maybe the two women were having terrible days??
Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view. You can leave your sliding door wide open and fall asleep to...
