A very interesting place.

I was given a simple but very nice room.

Best nights sleep for a while.

It was a little bit difficult to find at first following the signs.

Warm welcome.

Lots of small supplies available at a reasonable price.

Needs a settee in the lounge to be more comfortable.

Spent a night here with friends sometime mid-November 2016. Axel is a warm and kind host (played a round of Cards Against Humanity with us). The front yard has a great view of the mountains. The washroom was clean and well equipped. The room was well maintained. Overall, the stay was relaxing. A plus is that Fundalucia is a semi-short hike to a water dam. We were able to wash our laundry as well, although drying took a bit longer. I would go back again.

I was looking for a quiet week somewhere in Spain with my partner. A place with a pool, where I'd be able to get some tan, but at the same time nowhere close to big resorts with hordes of tourists. And with airco. After shortlisting a few villages, this appeared to be the perfect place.

Fundalucia is run by two Germans of which I just met Axel. We stayed at the separate house. Three-storey property in a small alley, ground floor is the kitchen, upstairs is a living room and top floor is a nice and romantic bedroom with airco. Climbing up and down the stairs was no problem, just make sure you don't come back drunk.

In general, our stay was wonderful, but I feel it's pertinent to mention a few flaws. Main one being the neighbour next door, who loves loud TV and latino music, and probably because he is the only resident of the alley most of the time, he pretends not to take any note that other people are around, come to Quéntar for holidays and need some quiet and peace. Luckily I speak Spanish and I asked him a few times to lower the volume of the tv late in the evening and to not speak on the phone shouting or speak on the phone inside his residence. Useless.

Not that it was so important, but also it needs to be said that the house has no wifi, you need to use the main house's wifi. I used a Spanish SIM card.

The main house is a steep but short walk uphill, where you can enjoy some company if you feel like chatting to the other holiday makers, and also use the wifi and the pool... when the flies allow you. The pool has two opening times, which allow Axel to have his siesta. Unfortunately, it closes between 14 and 17hs, which is exactly when you get the most sunshine in the pool area (outside, you are not allowed to be without t-shirt). Also good to mention that the property has a (quiet) dog.

Those didn't seem to be major issues, the only disappointment was that although the accommodation is not exactly a hotel, but a full house (with kitchen and so on), we were a bit surprised that they have strict check out times, and we had to leave at 11 in the morning to allow cleaning for the next guest and that stopped us from having a last meal, and caused us a 4 hs waiting time in Granada.

On the good points, the village of Quentar is a lovely place for those looking for a peaceful holiday. And I also believe Axel has been all the time extremely nice to all of us, guests. He is always available to help, give tips and gives the guests freedom to cook, enjoy the facilities, pool, etc. I am sorry to sound a bit too critical, but the truth is that I really enjoyed my stay and I didn't consider any of the problems above a major issue.

Let me note: we didn't have a car, and at no moment that was an obstacle. Quentar is well connect to Granada by bus.

We had a double bedroom cottage in the village, which was perfect for us! It was quiet, private, had a lovely little balcony to have a coffee in the morning and a little snug of a sitting room with a TV and a sofa.
