Went to Penang for foodie holiday - Penang was ok.
We booked a King suite for eight nights through QANTAS for a “Great Price”.
We were upgraded” to 2BR studio - which included a bedroom with King Bed.
There was a shower/WC with threadbare towels and no towel rails and needed a good clean.
The main room had an extra king bed, minimal kitchen (fridge, crockery/cutlery for four, and five cooking utensils) washer/dryer, TV (no english). WiFi barely worked and dropped out. We used our own mainly. The room was noisy - could hear people walking down corridor and banging around next door.
There was no hot water over the kitchen sink or bathroom basin.
An outdoor swimming pool was on fifth floor. Cleaned once a week apparently. I doubt that, with silt and debris on the floor when we arrived and when we left.
The building had good restaurants and supermarket. The building had security, but the rooms are NOT as depicted on website.
It’s not a place to be able to sit and relax/chill after a long day sightseeing. There are MUCH better options. If it sounds too good to be true it generally is.
We met Omera a very hospitable host to show us around these serviced apartments. Conveniently located near to Gurney, George Town and the coastal area of Batu Ferringhi. They offer a wide range of suites at exceedingly competitive rates when staying over 30 nights. Within the building is a very handy supermarket and local convince stores too. The suites are well planned and have all the facilities one would require. The swimming pool commands excellent views too.
I rarely give a 5 star review, because in order for the place to get 5 stars, it would have to be perfect... and I don't think anything in life is perfect.
But Luxfort gets very close to that 5 stars.
Stayed here for 4 nights. I was upgraded from king to family room, free of charge. The room was modern and clean, and had everything I needed. Kitchen, microwave, washer/dryer, wifi etc. The only 'negative' thing I can come up with is there was no patio in that room. However, that didn't really bother me.
Polite reception staff. And lots of security people in the building.
They also have an excellent supermarket downstairs, that has a great variety of different food.
I've been to Penang 8 times now. This is the best hotel/apartment that I've stayed in so far. Highly recommended!
We had 2 nights in Penang at the end of our business trip and our budget was limited!
2 nights, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 lounge and a well equipped kitchen...even free water and towels...for less than £25 per night per person...bargain!
Not too far from the main shopping area and an awesome food market over the road...so good a plate of food for £1.20!
Check in was easy and friendly, the gentleman even booked us a taxi
Only moan was the call to prayer at 5.30 every morning that sounded like it was from the pillow next to you!
Thanks to excellent service provided by front desk officer, Mdm Omera, our check-in was done quickly and smoothly. Room was excellent with huge spaces, beautiful view and wonderful cleanliness. With house appliances available such as washer, dryer and stove, it made the whole stay very homely. A plus point was the great WIFI connection.
