The most amazing location including a private rainforest and creek. More importantly, fantastic facilities with comfy beds, killer pool and sundeck. The most amazing feature was the best party room we could ever hope for. Definitely back again!
Our families had the pleasure to stay at Misty Mountains just over a week ago for a wedding and it was one of the most amazing locations I have ever seen. The seclusion and serenity of the place was amazing and there was so much you could do. I could not get over how beautiful everything was and we could not fault anything. Sharon was an amazing host and marriage celebrant who put everyone at ease and made the day truly beautiful and memorable. She accommodated for everyone and nothing was too much trouble for her. We could not stop locating different sites to see on the property from the beautiful house, gardens, entertainment room the rain forests which were amazing, pool and creeks - truly a beautiful place and I would recommend everyone should visit this beautiful location. Thanks again Sharon for wonderful hospitality and help with everything it was a wedding that we will certainly remember.
We stayed as a couple in the Misty Mountain Hideaway room for two nights in January. It was amazing. Great service with lots of good advice from our hosts Sharon and Gene and the most amazing location. Situated at the foot of Qld's second highest mountain, in a mangificent reainforest setting, this place is fabulous if you want to immerse yourself in nature. The 40 metre walk to your own private stream which is wonderful for swimming in is unsurpassed. There are lots of walks and wildlife on the magnificant property and you are only 10 minutes away from provisions at Babinda and to the gateway to the Barrier Reef. We found this a fabulous place to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the wonders of nature. The privacy and seclusion add to the feeling of relaxation. Highly recommended. Do know that if you travel in summer you can expect lots of rain, it is a tropical rainforest after all, but why not embrace that by swimming in the rain in your own stream as we did.
In a lifetime of travelling widely - I can't recall too many places that have bowled me over so absolutely. There are trees hundreds of years old, watercourses which dramatically carve through the forest, formations of ancient rocks, a feast of wildlife, some fine architecture, nearby waterfalls and beaches - all within sight of Bellenden Ker, the second highest mountain in Queensland. Effectively it is a one suite property set in spectacular serene surrounds and many of those who seek it out are looking for a place to tie the knot. Conveniently, owner Gene’s wife Sharon is a marriage celebrant.
The creature comforts, integrated into this nature retreat, include carefully a manicured pool with a cabana, luxurious rooms, outdoor and indoor dining, swing seats, walking trails and touches to tantalise; with 360 degrees of misty mountain surrounds.
It takes 4km to drive from the road and at night the road is crossed by bush pigs, wallabies and all manner of furry creatures. If you choose they could be the only life forms you’ll encounter during your stay.
We booked our stay here months in advance through booking.com but unfortunately Sharon was not aware of the booking. Luckily we rang ahead to confirm and Sharon was extremely accommodating in making sure the property was ready for our arrival. We were given a warm welcome and a tour of the property on arrival. Basic breakfast provisions were provided. The property is situated in beautiful lush, tropical and totally private gardens with a lovely lagoon-style pool and lounger area and there is a golf buggy for personal use to explore the grounds. There is also a particularly quirky separate large bar area which houses a pool table, dancers pole, huge seating area, sophisticated lighting and sound system. The main accommodation was comfortable and has a nice feel, however it is slightly dated, particularly the bedroom and small bathroom. Although there was only 2 of us we did have a peek at the accommodation for a 2nd couple which contains a bed, seating area and kitchenette. It was not what we would have expected as it did not have a particularly luxurious feel. Overall, there were some touches missing, for example, perhaps a more generous welcome hamper containing some of the local produce, and maybe a bottle of fizz. Dressing gowns and slippers would have been another welcome addition which you would normally expect in a luxury property. Sharon was extremely friendly and helpful and was on hand to provide advice and organise activities if needed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
