I stayed at this hotel for work during December 2018, the cost was $360.00 dollars a night at that time. Expensive for this hotel, as I don't think it was worth it, but it is one of the nicer hotels in Luanda. There are other choices, that are about the same in price. I think the more expensive hotel would be the Epic Sana Landa Hotel at around $500. The hotel is located about 10 to 15 minutes from the airport without traffic. There is a small business center located in the hotel with two computers upstairs from the lobby where you can print boarding passes and access the internet. The room was nice, with a great shower. Breakfast was good, meats ,cereal, eggs, and omelets to order. The hotel also has a restaurant, pool, and bar located in the lobby. I also found the hotel to be fairly safe. However, I would not suggest walking around Luanda at night. The staff was very friendly, and spoke English. If you walk out the hotel turn right and walk about 15 minutes, you will arrive at the Museum of the Armed Forces, which has a great view of the city. I believe it was about 50 to 80 cents to get in.
We arrived early in the morning, at about 3:00A.M. You can take a taxi from the airport, but they will try to overcharge you, even if there is a meter. The cost from the airport can run anywhere from $20.00 to $35.00 dollars. However we were charged $50.00 dollars, after we would not pay the taxi more. At that time in the morning your options are limited. We were told after we arrived at the hotel, the best thing to do is call the hotel directly, and they will schedule a cab for you. They do not have a hotel shuttle, but give them your information, and they will send one. Make sure you call the hotel directly. If you send an email to the hotel before you arrive, it will go to there reservations desk, and they will not assist you. Do not take the blue and white van taxis that are driving around the city, they usually have several people in them. They are not safe, and you will most likely be robbed.
When you depart from the hotel to the airport, make sure you are taking to the international side. We were dropped of at the local terminal, and had to take a taxi to the international side. Be careful on how much Kwanzas you take out of the country, as you can expect to be searched at the airport to make sure your not leaving the country carrying more than allowed. I think it is still 50,000 kwanza, just check before you depart, or they will take it. I hope this helps, and enjoy your trip.
