When we booked the hotel, we read in their website that they were undergoing renovation and the pool would be closed during that time. We went ahead with it anyway because the room price was discounted and the location is central and we don't go to Singapore for a swim... we can swim back home!
At time of arrival, we were greeted by very friendly concierge and receptionist. Because I went with 2 young kids, the receptionist was very kind to offer triple room at the price of 2, which was very nice but unfortunately my kids wanted to sleep on the same bed with me. So I requested a big bed instead and we were upgraded to Deluxe room.
The room is always clean and neat, thanks to the housekeeping team. And the bed was indeed king sized... so our 3 nights stay was very very satisfying. Also in every room, they have this international adjusted adaptors, so you don't have to ask for one anymore.
Renovation noise only happened during working hours but it didn't bother us because we were always out during the day, by the time we came back around 5 or 6pm, it had stopped.
In term of location, it's very central, you can walk everywhere to find everything... very convenient.

I checked into Rendezvouz on 29 April for a 2 weeks stay on the Club floor with full club facilities arranged by Duty Manager, Mono. I was given vip red carpet service with 3 pieces complementary laundry and or dry cleaning; full complementary minibar service together with breakfast and cocktail daily. I was well loved by all the guest relation officers, front desk cum concierge staff not to mention housekeeping supervisor and staff. Each one of them take care of me very well; nothing was lacking! When I informed Duty Manager I am not comfortable with the slipper supplied by the hotel, she went out of way to get me a special health slipper and when I told her that I need Coffeemate she went to NTUC Fairprice to get me a packet to enjoy my Nespresso coffee daily. When I requested for Vegetable Pizza for cocktail, it was placed on the cocktail table at the .next happy hour. I enjoyed all my showers. It was truly a breeze eith all the spar facilities embodied in the bath area; and Rhendezvous is the only hotel with a warm seat on the toilet bowl. I honestly enjoyed my two weeks stay that I have tentatively booked for a month stay in December!

The Rendezvous is an old hotel that has been renovated where necessary, so the corridors to the rooms have been left in their original state; our room was simple but had been updated, and the bathroom was a good size. We found a generous pack of vouchers on our desk which paid for a few meals in the nearby dining area, and two train travel cards worth $5 each. The bar area is adjacent to a courtyard bar that didn't have much of a vibe. We didn't use the bar or dining room in the hotel. Buses stop outside, though as of a week or so ago there was road construction blocking traffic. I would recommend the Rendezvous and we were very grateful to the Concierge desk for allowing us an extra hour to check out, beyond the already generous 6pm check out, and then kept our bags for us till we returned from dinner. We made a number of requests during our stay and the staff were always charming and helpful.

Booked a club room (had benefits of wifi with extra bandwidth, "plus" breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktail, all day refreshments".
Good stuff: -the free flow of food all day long was like a happy pill, knowing we'll never be hungry. we hardly had to eat our lunch or dinner (since lunch was afternoon tea of finger food and dinner was evening cocktails of finger food and staples like mac n cheese) -the lounge was exclusive so you'll always get a seat and someone attending to you. -although food was not out of the world amazing, it was satisfying- cakes were dean and deluca quality. -rooms were clean -location was good - just a 5min walk to heart of orchard -toilet seats were heated and had the bidet system. -rain shower. toiletries were of FCUK brand. -wifi was awesome.
bad stuff -the bed was TERRIBLY hard. Never slept on such a hard bed in a hotel before! I imagined sinking in to fluffy soft white beds only to be hit back hard. nevertheless, we still slept soundly, would have been better if the bed was softer -the toilet sink drained really slowly. -walls were a bit thin, could hear the baby crying next door. -at 3am during a thunderstorm, we wanted a room service. we had to call the concierge, room service, and reception at least 10 times before someone answered the phone. price was exorbitant for a small portion ($21++ for wanton mee when you could walk down the road and have it for 1/5 the price)
Overall, still a pleasant stay because of the free flow food all day long.

Our stay started with assistance from the concierge in getting our bags from the taxi. The check-in staff then ensured we got a room with 2 beds (as it had been accidentally booked as a queen). Staff were very friendly and helpful the whole stay. The artwork was fantastic and gave a great feel to the foyer. I will definitely stay again when I get to go back to Singapore.
