Great potential

A new boutique hotel around Lavender with great potential. Room sizes are small but the design of each room appears to be well thought-out. I love the special rack at the doorway of my Deluxe balcony room.

Lovely bed to sleep in and i am looking forward to the opening of their restaurant. If there is one con, it is probably that the hot water seems to run out of the heater tank relatively fast so if you're someone who desires a long hot shower, this place might not be suitable.

Small but cosy

Even though the room was really really small, it was cosy and felt just right for 2. Location is excellent with Chye Seng Huat Hardware right beside it, its about a 5-10min walk to Lavender Mrt, 5 min walk to the nearest NTUC Supermarket.

The staff were really friendlly, the hotel exuded a really relaxing and comfortable feel! Its good for couples who wants a mini getaway! However, the hotel has literally no soundproof, we can hear people's footsteps along the corridor, water trickling in other rooms and people speaking. Other than this, all is great!

Despite the small space, the bathroom and toilet is still separated.

Excellent service, but cramped space.

Myself and my Wife booked hotel Yan via ZEN Rooms. However, when we came to the hotel, it was revealed to us that ZEN had not paid Hotel Yan even though I had paid ZEN Rooms at the time of booking. However, the front desk staff were super helpful and resolved the matter without me getting involved and took us to our room within 10 minutes. However, it turned out that the room was super tiny: around 12ft by 15 ft and we could barely move inside with our luggage. However, when we wanted a bigger room, the staff were again super helpful in moving us to a larger "Deluxe" room with acceptable space for a minimal surcharge.

Beyond this, the service was superb, and the housekeeping staff attentive and responsive at all times.

The front desk staff were always helpful and friendly, always with a smile on their face.

I recommend this hotel for short stays.

I do not know if the food there is good since myself and my Wife always prefer to eat from outside.

Affordable comfort in a chic hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel YAN earlier this month and will definitely come back for another visit. As soon as we entered the beautifully air conditioned reception area we were warmly greeted by staff and made to feel welcome. We had a Superior Twin room which came with the most comfortable beds and pillows we had encountered in our three weeks of travel, and perfect air con. Yes, the rooms are compact, so check the room descriptions for measurements before making a booking so you get what suits you. There is also perhaps a little less toilet privacy than you may be used to at many other hotels that have a separate, closed room for the bathroom area as there is simply a heavy curtain that divides the bedroom from the bathroom (not sure if this is the same for all types of room though). We didn't find this a problem however, and it complimented the minimalist room layout. The shower is spacious, simple and well-designed. The complimentary mini bar has water, soft drinks, crisps, biscuits and chocolate and gets topped up daily. This affordable hotel is industrial and very chic, fitting right in with its location on Tyrwhitt St in what we felt was a very real, non-commercial part of Singapore. There is a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist temple across the road and plenty of food options are available where you can enjoy some delicious and very affordable food with the locals. The Little India district is also an easy walk, as well as both Lavender and Farrer Park MRT train stations. If you don't feel like dining out, there is also Cafe Nido within the hotel, offering a tempting menu. On the last day of our stay following a noon checkout, the hotel staff were kind enough to store our baggage for the afternoon and organise a taxi for our return trip to the airport. Special thanks to Spencer and Ailen for being kind hosts.

Love it! Will be back!

Everything from the check-in, to the profound standard of cleanliness and comfortable bed (It’s a Sealy!) in the stylish room, Hotel Yan has changed my previous bias about Singapore hotels. I had previously stayed at a few hotels among which, one was of a higher-starred rating; my experiences had been altogether appalling. I swore that I would never be back at another hotel in town AND Hotel YAN has reversed that series of my awful experiences regarding hotels in Singapore. Not only that the property is of walking distance from Lavender station, it is also surrounded by coffee shops selling infamous food! There’s also a Tiramisu restaurant for the cat-lovers that is located a few shops after the 7-eleven (just across a small street). Overall, thumbs up for Hotel YAN! So proud you’re in our little red-dot!
