This Hotel !,no it aint a Hotel, it's not even a hostel. We stayed 3 night's a group of 9 and were do i start !,This is a honest review no lies.Shared a room with my son in law as it was a Stag doo,no fridge, no air con, no safe.had to keep asking for toilet roll, asked for a towel and was told only every 3 days !,Ginger haired woman on reception was vile, had to hand key in everytime you left the building ,I now know were some of my tee-shirts went .my mates room had carpet that went up the skirting boards, wall paper tacked on .the other lads room well ,toilet area just a joke, shower and toilet on top of each other ,oh and the toilet roll was like cardboard so it blocked the toilet up in the lads room and flooded the room to the point they said fk it and trashed it !,not saying that is right i would not do it ,but everyone to thier own .Avoid this place like the plague.only good point is the women in sofia are stunning lol
Stayed here with 5 other male friends , on an organised stag weekend . We are all 37 to 65 year old professional men and seasoned travellers. Our package also included a guide , plus transfers to and from the airport and to a couple of pre planned events in the owners 8 seater mini bus.Now you need to bear in mind you are 15 mins away from the city centre in a country where beer is a pound a pint and the average monthly wage is about £400. Soooo , be honest and consider that when you are paying around £25 a night for a room , incl. breakfast ( boiled egg , meat , bread , coffee etc ) then it works out it's more expensive for me to live in my house than it is to stay here. You simply cannot grumble about that. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The owner was a really nice chap - sorting us out some wine glasses etc and giving us some recommendations . We weren't expecting to spend much time actually staying here , given the nature of the visit , but did sit in the courtyard and have a few beers ( cans from reception for a quid ) and coffee etc is available in the day from the desk . The rooms were ideal for our needs and nice and clean. Yes the decor is a tad tired and odd here and there ( we had doors all over the walls and ceiling ! :) The slightly odd wet-room / toilet set up was a bit shabby around the edges , but what we needed. In the top back triple room ( room 11 ) there is an odd roof arrangement on a kind of extended bit overlooking the courtyard and rear apartments , which is basically some poly-carbonate garage roof sheets with pigeons living in the roof above. Some noise from the birds , but we weren't bothered. The suburbs of Sofia are a little run down but there were local shops and a nice bar around the corner. To be honest , I wouldn't probably use this place for a romantic break or young kids unless you are on a proper shoestring budget BUT as far as we were all concerned for the price , this place is perfectly alright. If I wanted to arrange a similar lads weekend away , i would DEFINITELY re-book here. Oh and don't pay more than a Lev per km in the cabs :)
Never in my life have I stayed in such a horrible hotel. Trust me I've been unlucky enough to stay in bad hotels but this wins the trophy for the worse hotel ever.
Let's start... when I arrived the lady at the front desk told us that we didn't have a reservation so I was surprised to hear this. Anyways, she asked us to wait while she figured something out. 30 minutes later she said she's going to give us a room to wait in while she works something out. She puts us in a room, then I phone Hotels.com to let them know what's going on. Surprisingly hotels.com says that the hotel found the reservation.
The room is horribly decorated and looks NOTHING like the pictures. When I booked my room, it seemed pretty modern looking but the room we got was maybe form the 1900s. The shower head was broken and it splashed water everywhere! No curtains either, the bathroom was tiny, the bathroom door was cracked, the room did not have A/C but luckily the lay who checked us in, who was very nice by the way, she offered us the fan from the reception. I was seriously thinking on leaving that same night and go to another hotel but we were exhausted as we had been traveling for 7 hours and we arrived late at night. The next day we asked for a new room but a different lady refused and lied to us stating the whole hotel was booked, yet many websites listed rooms available for the night. I don't think I've ever experienced such horrible stay. This place needs to be remodeled ASAP! I overpaid.
Cheap option in Sophia, pleasant staff and about 10-15 minute walk to main centre/metro. Very outdated decor and note the bathroom is a 'shower room' rather than contained shower. Sheets didn't quite fit the bed properly, fine for me but would not be ideal for couple. Good if on a budget.
