My sister and her friends booked room in this "hostel" for New Year's eve. Room was very dirty, smells very bad, no hot water... Of course they didn't stay in this... this.. I don't know what is this, but it is not for people. 😠 Go far, far, far away from Propido.
A friend and me booked a room in this hostel for 31 December because the price was lower than at many other places. Now we know why. We went there and as we entered the door, there was one man standing at the end of the corridor - and nothing else happened after seconds. He just looked at us. After a while he talked to us in another language, but didn't walk into our direction - we could read from his hands that we should come in and have a seat. So we did. He sat close to us but didn't talk anymore, he was busy with his phone. We didn't have any other info. So we kept sitting there and waited. What we could see were the corridor and the kitchen, both is set up very simple - witch doesn't matter us. We waited about an hour and during that time, the guy from our start went knocking on another room and two guys - who were obviously sleeping until then and just got up - left the room. When after an hour the owner - Sofia, as I remember - finally entered the appartment, we recognized, that the room, where these guys were sleeping in, was her office and these guys were meant to work there. When we told her that we had a reservation she said that it's not possible and looked it up. In the end we waited there one hour until she arrived just to hear her saying that there is no room left and that it was the fault of booking.com. We told her that it was New Years Eve and very hard to find another room and that it should also be her responsibility to either contact booking.com - if it's their fault - or help us finding another room. She was pretty impolite and didn't feel responsible at all. Her appearance made us guess that she was out the night before and it seemed at that time our booking was entering - and she just didn't get it because she was not there or it was her fault because she missed locking the availability at booking.com on time. We ended up paying 240 Euros for another room - which was the cheapest and still free that night in Belgrad, because everything else meanwhile was totally booked out.
My friends that booked this place through booking.com got cancelled not once, but two times from the owner and the second time was a couple hours before arrival in Belgrade(they were already half way from Pula to Belgrade) without any explanation even though they had a confirmation tjat they have it reserved under their name. Once i called the owner from my Serbian number and explained her the situation, she somehow "found a room" for them. We told her that we need first to take a look at the place before we decide. Once we arrived it was a complete shock! The place is unbelievably dirty, hallway filled with dirt in the corners, the room with old beds without possibility to lock the room.I do not want to tell you the smell in the place.
I really do not know who this place is still functioning. Who doesn't believe me, please go there and take a look by yourself.
I would give them ZERO stars if possible.
Would recommended everyone to first read the past bad reviews before taking risks with this place.
First of all I have to make myself clear to any potential reader, I am not a bad reviewer, most of my reviews are good.
The story goes like this.. Made a reservation via booking.com for the hostel due to the low price ( 20eur for 4 days plus 1.15 city tax per person per day).
When we arrived there we enter a place that I would describe as dirty... My friends started laughing and telling me what we were doing there and that we should leave before anyone comes. I persuaded them to stay and at least see the room, pay the money which were not much anyway and then leave. Eventually a lady showed up and before showing us the room she told us to pay an amount over 3 times the price posted on booking.com with the excuse that the confirmation emal i had was wrong(!!) and she asked how i could possibly believe that i could stay there in such a low price. Then she told us quite impolite if we wanted to stay with the price she said if not we should leave. Our decision was the easiest ever and we left instantly only to find a lovely hostel just 5 minutes later down the steet.
All in all, after the communication I had with booking.com the lady was not only clearly trying to cheat us but she did it in a rude and obvious way, the most inappropriate for someone who makes a living from a hospitality service. A total disgrace to the Serbian hoteliers and avoid it at all costs if you are not completely desperate.
it is very badly organized , when we first arrived they gave us another room other than the one we booked and t was so so dirty had there were insects and bugs, and when we asked for our original room they said someone is staying there and you can move to it in the morning after he checks out, and also showed us other room downstairs and it was a shop that was turned into a room directly on hte steed and its also dirty and awful, so we spent thenight in this dirty room then we took our room the next day it was not as dirty as the first one but there was insects there too, the bathroom is poor and not clean, i know its budget friendly option but if i knew all that i wouldn't have booked even if it was for free
