This is worth 5 stars for the location alone. Stunning views from room, bars and restaurants.
Be aware that this is a popular wedding venue with all that that ensues. There were three in the week we were there, but other than very well dressed and immaculately made up ladies in the lift when you were togged up for the pool it made little difference as the hotel and the grounds are spacious enough to cope without spoiling the ambiance for the rest.
We only ate in one night and it was very good, but breakfasts had so much choice, including a section for the ever larger gluten free population, lunch was missed most days but the light lunches on the terrace above the pool ( with its own kitchen) hit the spot fine.
The pool area could have been too small without the diligence of the pool man who insisted on no early morning towel reservations(!) and made sure no lounger went unused. There are shaded areas down there as well and ladders into the sea. Plus a regular visit from a waiter to keep the drinks topped up which saves you from a tough climb up the steps.

We stayed here recently and very much enjoyed our stay in Dubrovnik.

The hotel is well located, a few minutes by foot from the old town and about 500ms from Banje beach and the "east west" restaurant/club/beach facilities. Excellent for us, we were close to everything in downtown Dubrovnik. The hotel is a bit uphill but nothing dramatic. I found the location very very good.

The hotel is 5* but to my standards its more of a 4*. It is very nice and has all the facilities expected of this type of hotel but it's just not 5*. The room was spacious but there was no balcony nor a coffee/tea machine. The wifi was absolutely useless, this was not ideal. Otherwise, the toiletries from L'Occitane are very chic and the bed was confortable. But the mini bar was not refilled for exemple, this kind of things do not happen at 5* hotels.

Staff was very kind at the exception of one guy at the reception who was extremely cold in our first day. The rest of the staff was excellent.

The pool is not so big but big enough for the hotel. The sea-pool was excellent! you can splash right into the ocean and it's a lot of fun. Loved it. there are a lot of sun beds, but these get busy quite quickly, like everywhere.

Breakfast is ok but not great. There is not a large variety of food, everyday the same. This could definitely be improved. The terasse however is so beautiful, with the lovely sea view. And the staff again very friendly.

We recommend this hotel and would probably stay here another time.

The Villa Argentina's strongest point is it's location just 7 minutes walk to the old town. We stayed in the annex Villa Glavic across the road. To get there incurred climbing a long flight of steps to the entrance and our room was on the third floor with no elevator. This was not a problem for us but might be for others not so mobile. The male functionary who checked us in was not welcoming. Our room was small and well equipped and had a good size bathroom but the television remote did not work and the bath plug was faulty. We reported this to the female receptionist who was charming and helpful. The swimming pool and attendant service was excellent. The breakfast was average.

The hotel is wonderful, the best location, walking distance of the old center, excellent breakfast, very nice beach area, nice staff, very comfortable rooms. It only lacks of having wifi access in the room, you need to go to the lobby to use it. When you are traveling on vacations, and you want to talk to your family through skype or post pictures, having to do it on a hotel lobby is very unpleasant!

My partner and I herd lots of good applause for Croatia and thought let's see what the fuss is about.

We took 11 days starting in Split then Huvar with a night on Korutula ending in Dubrovnik for 5 days.

We had a great time everywhere, the people and places a joy.

GVA was unfortunately a let down, it is certainly not 5 star! The rooms air-conditioning terrible, the room outdated and staff, bar the bell boys, unhelpful. The service is slow and unfriendly.

If you want a great pool with a great view then this is the place for you, I would recommend finding a deal though, as at the price we paid it was not what we are accustomed to nor what we experienced throughout the rest of our trip.

In general. Not 5 star but 3. Poor service. Poor Rooms. Great pool.

Dubrovnik itself Fantastic just stay elsewhere!
