It is hard to find a parking lot in the center of Brasov especially during weekends and this hotel does not care about this. We booked a room in the hotel and we received a room in the street nearby a night club. I could not sleep with all the street noise. There is no fridge, no air conditioning and some rooms are outside the hotel. It's not a 3 stars hotel. Take care. You can see the pictures attached as a proof that I'm not lying.
Walls and floors are made entirely of old creaky wood, rooms are stacked on another, be prepared to endure banging like a construction site any day first hour until late night. lol and this was the premuim suite
We stayed here for 2 night. The reception staff was very polite, following covid regulation (mask, social distancing), she had 2 rooms available and we had a choice. The room was small, basic, it looked clean, but we”ve found on the floor a receipt, probably from the previous guests. The bed was big, with good mattress. We had no AC, fortunately there was no need. We had in the bathroom all the utilities, including single use slippers. The hotel premises is strange, practically you go by the door of a few rooms when you pass the balcony that you see in the pictures. So there is limited privacy, everyone can se inside your room if the curtains ar not drawn. Our room was somewhere upstairs and we didn”t have that problem. The breakfast was terrible, same food for 2 mornings: simple omlette or 2 fried egs (too oily for our taste), 2 very thin salam slices (mediocre quality), 1 very thin cheese slice and a few vegetables (tomatoe, cucumber and olives). We were very disappointed, considering all the reviews we”ve read. Nothing baked, cooked or warm, besides those unfortunate eggs. We asked for a second coffee, but the waiter wasn”t to happy with our request - he brought it in the end. The location is very good, in the city center, but far from all the noise.
Stayed there for two nights and it has a lot of positives. First of all the location in excellent, very close to the central square, black chirch rope street etc. location is perfect. The layout is also very nice and the staff was friendly. The room was clean and the breakfast was also very good. They offer wifi (not always strong but most of the times its ok), slippers (did not expect that for a three star hotel) and the room was spacious, i thought it was four stars when i saw the room and was pleasantly surprised. We could use a mini fridge that we did not have and also one major problems was the noise. Probably because it is an old building and has wooden floors and since we stayed on the ground floor we could hear all the steps from above and also because of the fact that the water tubes came through the walls we could hear all the water through the walls when the upstairs neighbors had a shower or used the bathroom. That was really annoying. Also because it has an inner yard(which i personally enjoyed) one morning at 4 am people came back and were laughing and shouting which woke us up and the second morning something like a trolley or at least sounded like one woke us up also. I guess these are problems that people in the first floor did not expierence. However i have to say that i would choose it again
I read some spectacular reviews of Drachenhaus, so I was a bit disappointed with my experience. That being said, you can’t beat the location and the price was reasonable, so I’ll give 4 stars.
My room was a single and was small but functional, but the part that was horrible was the noise. The walls in the rooms are paper thin, and since all rooms face a central courtyard, you can hear everything that is going on outside in the courtyard. The first night I was there, there were children screaming at the top of their lungs until the wee hours and people talking loudly and laughing while having a smoke in the courtyard until 2:00 AM. Management needs to do a better job of enforcing quiet hours given how easy it is to hear what is going on outside of the rooms.
Location is great - it’s just off of the main square so walking is possible to most of the major attractions that Brasov has to offer.
I didn’t eat breakfast so cannot speak to the quality of food in the restaurant.
Hotel staff were helpful and though I didn’t use them to arrange tours, they are able to book tours of Brasov and Bran Castle at the front desk as well, which is convenient.
Bag storage was possible after checking out. Overall, a fine option for a private room at a decent price in Brasov, but certainly would caution light sleepers to consider another choice.
