Very friendly, clean and quiet, but social place. Close to the Pub Street and the Old City. The reception is very helpful and they cleaned our Room every two days. After a long day exploring the wats you can chill in hammoks under a big mango tree. Also they have free Water and an good Coffee, to wake you up. We enjoyed our stay and had a really good time;)
The place is really nice, in a good location, quiet but close to restaurants and Angkorwat. The service was superior! We arrived late and had to queue up for the visa for over an hour. Our pick-up service waited patiently. The room is clean with aircon and very nice beds.
The next day we took the hostel's tuk tuk to go to Angkorwat. They charged a really fair price. Our driver provided us with cool water throughout the whole day (carrying a cooling box in the tuk-tuk) which was an amazing service!
What is more, when we came back from this hot day we were able to enjoy a shower at the hostel and relax outside until it was time for our transfer to the airport.
Considering the price we paid the hostel is really great - would recommend it to everyone looking for something great in this price range. Thank you to the host and the tuk-tuk driver!
After bunking down at a party hostel over the weekend, our room at Day Star Hostel was exactly what we were looking for to end our time in Siem Reap. Two comfy king beds, excellent AC, and a clean bathroom with a hot shower! We stayed 3 nights, and it was the perfect hideaway from the noise and heat after long days exploring Angkor Wat and the ins and outs of the city. Plus, the owner and his staff were supremely friendly and helpful. We even had a bit of a problem with our booking, but the owner was very patient and worked through it with us. Definitely recommend!
For whatever reason, nobody knows about Day Star. It wasn't showing up on my "Near Me" results in Trip Advisor, nor on Booking. I *happened* by one day and was impressed that such a luxurious guesthouse (they have wonderful A/C private rooms) that was so primely located (literally on the doorstep of Angkor Night Market and Pub St., but also tucked away on a secret quiet road) was so cheap!
I was most impressed with the friendly family that runs it, as they seemed honest and wanting to help foreigners rather than trying to make the most they can off them. The woman who was in charge happily wanted to show me the room first, which was spotless, well-decorated and roomy, and also easily was willing to give a discount for the already well-priced rooms when I said I wanted to stay a week.
Because it's so new and hidden from the main street, they're not getting a lot of traffic. Now is probably the best time to visit in order to get the hostel prices without the young & loud hostel atmosphere that permeates the rest of the city's hostels! Probably if you booked a dorm bed, you'd have the whole dorm to yourself!
I stayed at day star hostel over 4 nights with 3 friends. We chose this hostel because of the good rating on booking.com and the very cheap price since we are travelling on low budget. We had a big room with 2 huge and comfortable double beds, a clean bathroom and AC. The service was very nice and took good care about us. If you miss good, fresh coffee you are definitely in the right place here.
Thanks to the owner for the amazing time!
