This is a nice resort.
This is not anywhere near comparable to resorts in other countries. If you've stayed at a resort in Cancun or Punta Cana, then this is a huge step down. But it's as nice as it gets in Honduras. It has a decent sized pool that includes a kiddy area. The pool has a bar. You can get anything you want to drink. The beach is right there. It's not a picturesque beach, but the water is nice.
We stayed at the hotel one time. The rooms were decent, clean with towels and comfortable beds.
Where it really tanked was the food. It was awful. They had a pasta bar, and it was basically just pasta with some flavorless, watery sauce. It's buffet style. The fish was fried. Honduras has great food: baleadas, cuajada, chicharrones, their chicken fried, grilled or rotisserie is delicious. They could just hire some ladies from the neighborhood to prepare the meals, and it would be ten times better. The highlight was the afternoon snack where they served Honduran style mini hot dogs. Those were good.
And also it's overpriced for what it is. If you want to go there for the day, it's $63 for just a day trip for an adult. We spent one time with two rooms, and it came in at $500. That's outrageous.
The grounds and swimming pools are beautiful and the beach is nice. Everything worked well in our room and it was nicely furnished. We especially enjoyed the hot showers after days of bucket showers in the camp where we stayed previously. There is bottled water in the room and a large bottled water container in the lobby area to refill water bottles. The staff is helpful; many speak no English so brush up your polite Spanish. The buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner-no menus) had plenty of choices and the food was, overall, very good. Plenty of fruit was available every day. The registration office is removed from the hotel, pool and restaurant. The resort was filling up for the weekend. Our stay, Thursday-Saturday morning was really pleasant. One of the best things is that you can walk to town along the beach, maybe a 10-15 minute walk and easier than driving, I think. There is a great artist who lives in the town, Cruz Bermúdz, and we visited his gallery.
This is a very nice resort.
I've been to this place several times both when it was crowded and also when it was nearly deserted. Both situations were very nice. You can book a room or you can just come for the day. All meals and drinks, including alcohol, are included in the price.
The first thing you see when you come in is the pool. It's a big pool, and it is well decorated and cleaned. The area is spotless. The pool has one of those bars where you can swim up and order a drink, and when there are a lot of people music is blasted from the bar area. For beer drinkers they had Salva Vida and Miller. They also had some hard stuff.
There is a main restaurant. They don't take orders. You eat what they serve buffet style. Most of the food is North American style although they do have some Honduran food. When I was there they had maduros and at dinner they had a baleada station. The food is surprisingly good for buffet style food.
On the other side of the pool is the beach. There are coconut trees, and under the trees in the shade are hammocks. This is not a wide beach with pristine turquoise blue water, but it didn't matter to us. They have sea kayaks that you can use.
The hotel rooms are in buildings behind the restaurant. I like this because even though people might be partying late into the night, the rooms are nice and quiet. The rooms are typical hotel rooms with a/c and cable.
All in all, a very nice place to spend some fun times.
My wife and I stayed here with a group of medical missionaries to be close to the San Pedro Sula Airport for our flight home. This is a world class resort property. The rooms were very modern and well appointed. Besides having a quite large private beach, the property had a swimming pool with lots of entertainment activities for kids. Our room rate also gave us access to the dinner and breakfast buffet. The items on the buffet were very well prepared and what you would expect at a world class resort.
We were very pleased with our stay and would not hesitate to return for a future visit.
This resort is an amazing place. The grounds are beautiful with beautiful birds to serenade you to the friendly peacock that wanders around.
Meals and drinks are included. Food is very good but a little limited. The staff is very friendly and will take care of your every need. The rooms are large bright and very clean. You can have as many towels and wash cloths as you want. Beautiful terraces and balconys to relax on your own. The pool area is kept very clean and has a large swim up bar. Pool is warm and refreshing..easy to get into. Staff are very attentive to your poolside needs. Will remember your drinks and move lounges to wherever you want. The beach area has lots of hammocks to relax under the trees and lots of cabanas to take shelter from the hot sun. The sea is warm and great for swimming. Sand bottom beach too.
This resort is definitely a beautiful place that is yet to be discovered fully and as soon as it is....look out. Definitely check it out. You'll be glad you did.
