If you are going to visit Kuta however also want to experience a traditional Balinese hotel then Poppies is your No1 and only choice!!
What can I say about this amazing place other than it’s an oasis in the middle of a busy busy tourist town!
There’s no fancy entrance, blink and you will walk past the 3 foot wooden door in the wall of Poppies Lane 1. Don’t worry about a fancy entrance as this is the start of what makes Poppies Cottages so special!
Poppies 1 is a busy busy narrow lane with scooters and people walking up and down between Kuta Beach Walk and Legian Street, the lane has loads of bars and restaurants, shops and market stalls however when you step through that tiny door in the wall it’s like you have stepped from 1 World to another!!! You find yourself in the most beautiful and quiet Balinese garden, gone is the hustle and bustle, the noise and the modern life!
The reception is a small area that’s well equipped to leave your bags if your cottage is not ready and they even have safety deposit boxes to leave your valuables. The amazing staff welcome you with a drink and a smile and you instantly feel your in the Real Bali!
The walk to your cottage is one you want to take your time, taking in the amazing surroundings and appreciating the quiet. As you walk to your cottage it’s along a narrow brick path that weaves it’s way through lush gardens with small streams and ponds of Koi fish. It’s even more beautiful at night with it’s discreet lighting leading the way along the paths! The path weaves it’s way round and into one of only 20 Private Cottages which makes your cottage feel even more private than it already is!!
The beautiful cottage has its own outside seating area where a MUST is breakfast delivered to your cottage! You enter the cottage through the wooden door and into the most amazing open ceiling room with a beautiful large bed, seating area, fridge, TV, WiFi, safety deposit box, cupboard space and music player!!! Now I read people said there was a Smell in the rooms and I agree however it’s a pleasant smell of the natural thatch roof however you only seem to notice it the first time you walk in and after that it just become part of the room! The aircon in the room works fine, just make sure you always close the bathroom door as here is the amazing part.... the bathroom is outside!!!! Don’t worry though as all the utility’s are under the thatch roof part however walk beyond that onto the white gravel and look up and it’s just a mesh screen between you and the sky!! Very private and very secure so don’t worry!! The bathroom is lovely marble with a sunken bath shower area, the one tiny and only criticism (which I have read the hotel addressing and explaining other reviews) is the water temp and pressure. They have lovely drench shower heads however sadly the water pressure is very poor and at best the water is only Luke warm. We 100% accepted this as the hotel has been there for years and before anything else was built in the area so upgrading this must and will be a difficult job.
The pool area at poppies is just beautiful and swimming in that pool every day was amazing! The lagoon pool just made you want to swim and admire such beautiful surroundings! It’s a small area for lounging however most of the day we had it to ourselves with not another soul about!
Breakfast is amazing with the choice to eat a poppies restaurant across the lane from 8am or have a pre ordered breakfast delivered to your room any time you choose from 7:30, just remember to put your card on your door before you go to bed.
If you want my advice have it delivered!
Don’t hesitate to book poppies, you won’t be dissapointed! Free pick up and drop off at the airport is also a very nice addition to your stay.
Thank you for an amazing stay in cottage 25!
