I stayed here last year in June for 4 nights, this homestay run by a famous local painter Arka.he sells painting here also, and just beside the homestay, there is a gallery owned by him.the host Arka is friendly, everyday, when you wake up ,and sit on the veranda,he will greet you, asking if you want to have breakfast.he will chat with you too.there is a pool inside the property, though not big,but enough to cool down your body temperature.the room quite good,no fancy thing, but clean and with basic facilities, its open air bathroom is my favorite.there is some paintings hanging in the room and the veranda, which make this homestay more artistic.breakfast is ok,not big but you cant expected more with the rather low room rates.i had toast and egg, banana pancake,tea,coffee...there are some options for egg, like fried egg, sunny side up...,if you need transport, they will arrange it for you.the location of this homestay is very good, close to the royal palace of ubud, but in the morning it may be jam, traffic heavy.but for me is okay,i always go to the center by walking.when i check out,i need to withdraw money,Arka ride me to the bank, very generous.i also bought a painting from him as a memorable gift.though one year passed already, still miss this place.will come back for sure.

What makes this great is the service. You are treated as family. The owner and artist is a lovely guy. His family are there too so it feels very authentic.

It's on a quiet part of ubud with no traffic noise.

Nice pool. Good balcony area to sit

Room is clean and big

Breakfast is good enough. Outdoor shower is not to everyone's taste

Can walk down the road to ubud palace and the rest. Nearby Kajeng rice fields walk.

Some negatives. Fridge makes noise. AC makes noise. There is a rooster that woke me up 5am and ants are a problem.

But still give it 5 stars. Such a welcoming relaxing place.

I had an amazing time at Bale Bali Inn! What I loved most what the home-like feeling that Arka and his family create. Since the moment I walked in I was warmly greeted, and for the rest of the week I was treated like family. I LOVED the property and the location was perfect. At first I wondered why I booked a room with an outdoor bathroom but it was spectacular! I loved having my own private outdoor shower and bathroom.

The pool is lovely and is a perfect size. It has both shade and sun at different points in the day. The staff here are lovely and bring me a beautiful breakfast every morning and coffee. They clean the property and rooms daily.

I found my room very clean. Given the nature of the property and the outdoor feel, sometimes I had ants in my room, and in the bathroom (it is outside though!!)

Overall, I LOVED it, actually didn't want to leave and I'm coming back in 1 week with my boyfriend! Couldn't recommend this place more.

Bale Bali Inn is a traditional house compound adopted for accommodating several guests at a time. It is a very welcoming and peaceful place to stay.

The room is spacious, air conditioned, comfortable, with an outdoor bathroom that is a great feature. Imagine showering next to green plants on the wall and under the open sky! The other half of the bathroom has a roof so you do not need to worry about getting wet when it rains. The location is fantastic, only a short (~5 min) walk to the Palace and Ubud market. There is a swimming pool, a garden, and if you need a local guide to explore the temples and sights that can easily be arranged. Mr Arka is a gifted artist, so all the rooms and the grounds feature his paintings. The breakfast was good and tea/coffee was waiting on the porch upon awaking.

The owners are beautiful people; I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with them. I was also touched by their kindness. On my last day, I only had a few hours before heading to the airport, yet I wanted to see Monkey Forest, so Mr Arka offered to drop me off there on his motorbike. He also offered me to use a shower prior to my trip to the airport which was wonderful. On another occasion, he dropped me off at the Palace for the Legong dance - all those acts of kindness free of charge.

I will definitely stay at Bale Bali Inn when I am in Ubud again. I was treated like a family member by the owners and their gentle, positive energy seems to rub off on other guests who were respectful of one another's privacy, yet open and friendly. Great value for money and an invaluable experience of an authentic Balinese family.
