normally go self catering to turkey, but stayed b+b. the breakfast buffet is of tradional turkish style, also cereals avilible for the children, two types of fresh chilled juice and hot drinks. we stayed on the third floor sea view. could not have had a better view of marmaris bay. yes the music does go on untill midnight, how ever if you are watching the shows or even joining in (Belly dancing for adults and spring creature for the children) this is over befor you realise and getting to sleep is no problem.Air conditioning well worth it if you go in july/august. All the staff are very friendley and helpful. They are brilliant with the kids, talking, swiming and playing pool. You get a much more personal service than staying at some of the larger hotels(which i have done over the last eight years). This is a true family run turkish hotel and dose not belong to a chain. All staff are multi- lingual and are always polite and helpful. Mehmet and saadet (owners) are there every day and always join in with the holiday makers, staff you help you enjoy , relax and have a great holiday. The resturant food is of good standard and a wider choice of food is availible for the children if you ask(basically they will do you a childrens portion of any adult meal)The children loved the fresh pancakes and i just enjoyed everything i tried( no bad experience). if you are on a budget and would like a great family, fun holiday then this is the place for you, you can lay on the beach whilst the children go in the pool or sea and not have to move to see them or split the day walking from on to the other.Just looking at avilibility for next year. as a single parent i strongly recommend and cant wait to go back. i also noticed a lot of "regulars" coming into the resturant and bars that have come back to visit again and again . i also spoke to several people how have stayed several time. thank you to all for making our holiday wanting more. you all work so hard and deserve a great BIG THANK YOU and WELL DONE. Your brilliant.x
just got back from green beach after a two week holiday. We usually stop in apartments as there is three of us so we like our space, the room was plenty big enough for a hotel room.
In the room is a mini bar which was really cheap and filled up everyday, the staff never asked for a penny for any drinks we had from the mini bar till the day we checked out.
The bar in the hotel is very lively and good fun and has really cold draught or bottled efes.
Food from the restaurant is very good and good value. We stopped on a b and b basis and so the breakfast was of turkish style which suited us . if your excpecting bacon egg etc etc no hotel offers this .
The beach is brill outside the hotel all sand , staff also brill played pool with my child pat a cake games so much time for evey body .
Entertainment every night same entertainers but changed regulaly very good laughs with the
cheeky boys and shaggy.
Memhet who introduces the acts and comperes is really good fun ( party people watch this )
As for people saying music goes on until the small hours all music in marmaris has to be of for midnight ,all bars squeeze an extra half hour for the music but trust me for half past midnight music is of.
We had a second floor sea view room and it only sounds loud because there is three hotels in a row doing the same sort of entertainment.
I feel the neighbouring hotels which is malibu beach and sun beach are just copying the great
atmosphere which is created at green beach.
All ready booked for june cant wait to go back.
Jason from barnsley.
After searching for a long time for a half decent 3 to 4 star hotel in Marmaris we found the Green Beach..to be honest the reviews recently appeared neutral, we took a chance and booked it on a B & B basis requesting a double with a sea view.
Upon arrival and following a 2 hour transfer from Dalaman airport.we were a surprised how close to the 'strip' and beach the hotel was..Bere in mind we arrived at around 5pm at which time the hotel outside was quite busy. The hotel sits between two other similar looking hotels but the pool was covered over to make space for additional dining space.
Anyway the 'cheeky boys'(multi talented dancing waiters) grabbed our bags and took them into the reception area for us..nice touch. We were welcomed by the manager, cant remember his name but appeared pretty friendly, however the first question was did we want to pay for a safe and aircon, after a long hot journey i was not ready to start spending extra money with in 5 mins of arriving..He was quite insistant that we should pay for these items and i gave into him simply to enable us to take a shower and relax but didnt bother with the safe box..PS Air con for the week was 60 ltre, this is approx £35..
A young hotel worker took our bags in the lift up to the room on the 4th floor and we met him outside our room, he opened the door snd we were greated by a resonable sized room but with 2 single beds, we pushed them together and ignored the fact our request was ignored for a double (PS i think 2 singles are normal in Turkey)..The bathroom was clean enough with shower etc..Balcony was small with a view onto the hotel next door but also onto the beach and sea so we were happy enough.
However after a snooze for an hour or so the hotel completly changed its personalitly..
Now we are two adutlts in our mid and early 30's, however we wanted a hotel close enough to the beach and not too far for a little night life, this was what we had to a point but did not realise just how loud the hotel gets with its music between 9.30 and 1230, to the point that our walls were shaking and chance of sleep before 1am unlikely.even with doors and windows closed.
The beach was narrow opposite the hotel, this is not a private beach by the way but was free, however expect hassle from the waiters for drinks even though you may not want them..!
As we said the hotel is not really what we wanted, a relaxing glass of wine on the balcony was inpossible, there are signs all over the hotel stating that they dont what you do take in your own food or drinks, not to plug in your own music and basically not do a lot...
Location is good for shops, bars and resturants, for value head a few streets back from the sea front...Expect constant hassle from hotel and restrant staff, just ignore and dont get into conversation.
We went to Ichmer via water taxi, this is a much quieter place around 25min on the taxi boat and cost 7,50lire per person each way so this can become expensive but well worth it to us for a better beach and sea and a more relaxed enviroment.
All in all, it has a very small pool, basic break fast, very loud at night and claims to have all the evening entertainment you will need exclusively to them, this is not the case as all hotels have a crap Michael Jackson dancer, breakdancer(pretty good) and a freaky dance group callled to mommies..
Crap, tacky and purely money driven hotel for chavs
Arrived to be told no room for us, hotel over booked. Manager said he was told on the day we where arriving, but he was waving a fax at us that he received 4 days earlier, ( the manager had 4 other faxes in his hand said he didn't have room for those people either)he said they always over booked. we where taken to another hotel (to stay 1 night then return to green beach the next day and our room would be ready) down the front called Maris Hotel-this was a beautiful experience, definately a 3 star. My partner went to green beach the next day with our luggage to then spend an hour+ arguing for our room or money back. (there were 2 other people in queue wanting their room also) we eventually got our room. It was small, basic, cleaned every day, bar one day, mattress very hard, air con great, bathroom good enough size, stais lead upto all floors, if you don't want to use the lift, from reception the first 2 lots of stairs are tiled, leading to crummy worn shabby carpet, hotel sight states satelite tv, this is true as long as you understand turkish and don't mind a fuzzy picture, there is a pool, very small average size a third bedroom in your home . Our travel agent told us it was a nice quiet place, just what we needed. The volume of the music went louder after 10.pm to the extent the walls in our room vibrated, it was the same every night until 1am. One night it was 3am. 18-30's great place to be. Reception Staff weren't very friendly at all, one guy when we checked explained he didn't like letting people down when they come to hotel but he was just staff and couldn't do anything, we gave him a tip for his honesty. Breakfast was adequate, had evening meal once that was nice. But we couldn't stay around the hotel at night the noise was too much. There is a notice on the back of the room door stating, they are confident they won't have a fire but incase follow the instructions below. WHAT IT SHOULD READ IS there could be a fire but you will not know immediately as all the break glass boxes are broken on level 2, so the system must be disarmed, how can an hotel be open without a fire system, we did ask at reception if there was a fire system working the man shook his head.
Awful hotel! First night they tried to put me and my girlfriend into a room on the fifth floor. It was like a squat. There were two holes in the bathroom floor that we presume were drains for the shower (that was basically a tap on the wall next to the toilet and not separate from the rest of the bathroom), doors wouldn't lock etc (I think you get the picture by now!). The next morning the lovely but very over pressured hotel manager (I don’t think she realised how bad this hotel was either when she applied for the job) put us into a room on the second floor which had been refurbished but had no hot water....we changed rooms again! This hotel is falling apart!
BE WARNED THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY IN AND ONE WAY OUT OF THIS HOTEL! This means you have to ensue a battle with the hotel bar staff who are rude, arrogant and even aggressive when you try to leave the hotel and go and explore Marmaris! We got stung the first couple of days with bar bills until we realised that every other bar cost a lot less and best of all no hassle and above all nice staff. Oh, the pool is like the size of a bath, dirty and I never saw anyone in there. Surprise!
Breakfast is awful here! We went out in the morning with enough food for breakfast, lunch and dinner so that we wouldn't have to return to the hotel and have another battle with the staff. This didn’t go down well with the staff to put it lightly. Each and every time you passed you were questioned on where you were going and why. Apparently the truth does hurt! (when we told them that drinks were nearly half the price down the road in the nicest possible wyt they replied saying ‘its only 2 lira per drink cheaper there”….erm……?) The good thing is that after a week and a half of this they start to leave you alone although they give you dirty looks instead and mutter things in Turkish that are probably not very nice. One staff member even stuck his fingers up at us!!!! This behavior and atmosphere just because we refused to drink at the hotel almost ruined our holiday!
Oh, on one night we come back to the hotel to witness a large scale fight with the hotel staff and some locals, using sticks on each other.
We tried to change this hotel after reading reviews on this website but the company we booked it with (Travel Republic) were a joke. The only way to change this was to speak to them via email of which they would take days to respond. Eventually we got down to prices and they quoted us triple and sometimes up four times the cost for the hotels we enquired about than what was listed on their own website. By this time we had lost weeks and were eventually told (when we were able to get through) that is was too late to change anything unless we paid for another booking. The phone call from the manager that we asked for never came.
If you are in the same boat contact your rep when you arrive. Cause a stink and request that you be moved! (The best place to stay would be further along the beach. It’s a little further from bar street but the hotels, bars and restaurants are son much nicer and properly run. There are also buses that run to bar street which are very frequent and cheap.
As mentioned Natalie’s Steak House is very good! Also The Garden Restaurant is also very good and we spent most our time there and the food is brilliant.
For scuba diving Miss Katie Dive Centre is the best and are more professional than other diving schools there that we tried. (Go to them direct and you’ll get it cheaper than via agents).
The Rock Club in Bar Street was my favorite, right next to the Green House club and with the best kebab place opposite what more could you ask for?
