Good points: At city center (just a stone's throw from Camp Allen on Naguilian;just a bit behind City Hall) so location is great. The price is reasonable (breakfast included). It only has 16 rooms so it's quite private. Hot/cold water in shower. Bed is comfy enough. Warm blanket/duvet.
Points for improvement: It has a lean staff so the check-in counter was empty when we arrived (we had to ring the bell). No room service (there was no kitchen service for dinner when we were there). No fan or A/C so we opened the windows to let the musty air out (they really should air the rooms some more). No views. Our sleep at night was frequently disturbed by the sound of high-jet water spray (there's a gasoline station behind the hotel). Function (including karaoke and games) at neighboring building was so loud and could be heard inside our room. The entrance faces a small road that is rather steep with no sidewalk (senior citizens will be challenged as itis slippery). They were not able to give us an official receipt or even an acknowledgment receipt.
We were here during Panagbenga to watch the street dance and float parade. We expected the rooms to be a little more expensive but we didn’t expect what we experienced.
Just beside justice hall, the property is close to Session Road (lower) and Burnham Park. (about 1km away)
Because we booked this close to the event, we had no other option but the penthouse. It was huge. You have the whole rooftop to yourself and your group. The covered dining area is just outside the unit with city views. There are two bedrooms, a living room and a full sized kitchen. (TV is small though). Each room has its own rest room. The elevator doesn't go all the way through the rooftop which means you will have to use the stairs to get to the penthouse. All door locks except one are broken. It just wouldn't lock no matter how much we tried. Good thing we didn't bring valuables. Funny thing was that, rooms downstairs can hear the moving chairs in the dining area. The guard informed us about it when one of the guests downstairs complained.
Our room includes free breakfast. It was ok. I would like to highlight though that the fish they served was very small. You can have your breakfast at the restaurant downstairs or a room service for a fee. We opted to get the room service. To our dismay, they didn't even cleaned up the dishes. It stayed in the kitchen sink for 3 days. They also didn't make up the room. We asked for fresh towels but they didn't replace it.
They don't have in room wifi. You have to get to the lobby if you want to have wifi connection.
They will not allow late check out but they can store your luggage.
This is the worst place I've been to. I don't recommend this place.
The location was just ideal for someone who isn't that familiar with Baguio. Given the crazy traffic conditions as well I am glad we stayed here.
Hotel Caterina is your basic hotel. No AC which was a challenge for an asthmatic like me. But the room was decent; bed was comfortable, fan was given upon request, breakfast was good too.
Generally it is the place to go if you want a simple accommodation to stay in since you're out for the most part of the day.
The hotel was within walking distance from the city center. The room was clean and nice. The usual stuffs (towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, toothpaste) were provided. The bed was comfortable and clean. It was quiet in the room despite of the traffic outside, maybe because we were on the 6th floor. The staff were nice too. We were allowed to check in 2 hrs before check in time without charge. Breakfast was good, the coffee was excellent. The only thing we don't like was there was no bidet in the cr so if you poo, you would have to use paper towels which I was not comfortable with. And Wifi was not available in the room, only in the lobby which was a big downside since we would not be staying at their lobby for long just to connect to their wifi. Overall, it was a good place for their price.
whenever me and my family come to Baguio, Hotel Caterina serves as our home. it does not have all the trimmings of a 5 star hotel, but the staff are good, courteous and friendly. I think this has been our 4th time here. the room (de luxe) is clean and just enough for me and my two children. we had the junior suite twice before.
the hotel does not have a parking space but its proximity to Burnham Park, Session Road, the Maharlika Market and other places of interest would suffice for its absence.
