I’ve always prefer staying at small, unique places to huge properties. This time I bumped into MIL design hotel on Jalan Kamunting on the same street where Yut Kee is. Btw Yut Kee is a popular breakfast place with the locals - and so apparently what is the area is all about - food. Countless nasi kandar and all other local eating places - the famous Sup Kambing nearby the bridge, Warung Chapati, and so on.
The area is a newly revamped, I didnt see this hotel when I was here June 2018. To me the area is just perfect. Dang Wangi LRT / Bt Nanas Monorail are within walking distance.
The hotel is located right opposite of The Stripe Hotel. It seems to be occupying a totally revamped shophouses or warehouse with wooden floor. There you go - first catch - You can definitely hear your upstairs as they are walking & worse when they are moving furnitures.
You definitely want to ask for room with window.
I stayed in a double queen room. It is clean, & adequate. It is nice, although I was a bit annoyed because it’s windowless & they don’t clearly mention about it on their listing.
The room is tastefully designed, which unfortunately doesn’t quite make any sense on some things - the toilet & separate shower are practically just partitioned spaces. The room is windowless, no exhaust fan to ventilate air from shower & toilet - no ventilation whatsoever. The ac seems to be very old & takes very long time to work. Claustrophobic feeling. So - dont eat anything too heavy :)
Another things that I found a bit weird is the absence of minibar & safe box.
For me, the area made up what this place (my room) is lacking, so this will be under my KL places list to check, and if there will be next time, i will ask for room with window for sure.
We stayed here for a weekend and I thought it would be busy but it turns out to be okay. Room was nice and good. Spacious room. But one thing that lack is the power point. Out of all the power. The only one that actually works is at the sink. Even the TV couldn't be turned on. Other than that we enjoyed our stay here.
Location was great, just in front of Hotel Stripes and some of other hotels in the same road. There is also a famous breakfast spot called Yut Kee just 2 mins walk from this hotel. Room Industrial Interiors was cute however room were not that clean as there is some spider nest on the ceiling, TV in room were not working when we stayed as they said there are some signal interference (like for 3 days?).
Serve sandwich as a breakfast, no other choice. Overall a so so experience.
Located in the middle of KL, near the nightlife spot in kL.
Hotel design is good. Interior deco is good.
Basic room amenities.
Room is spacious for 4 adults & 2 kids.
Separate bathroom and toilet.
Water pressure is fine.
Air conditioning is good.
Thin wall. U can be heard from the corridor. U can also hear the noise from the clubs/ pubs nearby.
Sleeping quality - good.
Parking can be an issue. Not sufficient for hotel resident and cafe visitor.
Value for money - yes.
Overall - Good.
Check In - Booked via Expedia, never had any problem. But the receptionist was asking so many question, how many pax, what type of room, how long, etc... I already showed him the booking number and my IC and yet he still can't get it. There was zero manners. Politeness is zero.
Went in to the room 118 at about 2pm, and found out that the room is dirty, with wet carpet, tissue paper were on the floor, hair on the shelf, dustbin not clean. Told the staff and they told me to wait outside. I told them I wanted a new room, and they told me fully booked. But after calling the manager, she said there is room and upgraded my room to room 113.
Requested for ironing board, and without checking before giving to the guest, he gave a broken iron board.
On the second night, the room electricity got disconnected. Called the staff and he said he need to check, after 15 mins I called the hotel manager and decided to switch my room to Room 116( can't really remember) and just to find out even that room doesn't have electricity.
They told me to wait and they gave me room 109. The staff didn't offer any help in transferring my luggages to the room at all. To my surprise, the room is now 2 single bed. In addition to that, the sewage drain pipe is in the room and the water can be heard clearly gushing down. I told the staff and he himself said he won't stay in the room. Furthermore in room 109, the toilet is dirty, shelves broken. I told him I wanted to change room and he said there is no more room and it's fully booked.
I called Expedia and complain about this issue and they contacted the hotel and somehow they got me a room. This shows the staff is not truthful about the availability of the rooms.
They then changed me to room 209. Again, there was no help at all in transferring my luggage and 2 single bed. The soap in the toilet varies in each room, I'm not sure if those soap even belong to the hotel, cause there is empty soap boxes in the room.It just ruin my trip in KL.
Thanks to Expedia for refunding full amount for all this trouble.
Never returning to this hotel ever again.
Don't be fooled by the pictures. Carpet is stained, room dirty and dusty.
