About the room:
We stayed in a family room here for three nights. The room was simply decorated, with an air conditioner/heater, with a double bed and another double was added for our two small children. There was a private bathroom with a bath tub and hot water. It had a balcony and there were several beautiful roof terrace areas to choose from. The room was fairly basic and was not made up during our stay - but was comfortable enough. The main courtyard has a beautiful fountain and a swimming pool that looks very inviting - although too cold to try in November!
About the location:
The location is beautiful - the Kasbah is right by the river about 5-10 minutes drive from the centre of Ait Benhaddou. We went for a walk along the river one evening to enjoy the landscape. It is very quiet and relaxing.
About the food:
We ate at the Kasbah every evening and the food was great - tagine, pasta and omelette for the children, soup, fruit... There was a good atmosphere with music one evening. The breakfasts were also delicious - pancakes, fresh juice, bread and jams, yogurt, coffee and hot chocolate for the children...
About the hospitality:
What really made our stay special were the hosts. Azis helped us to organise a hike into the valley with a donkey to carry our two small boys (aged 5 and 3) with a picnic included. He also took us into Ait Benhaddou to watch the sunset. Then when we were unsure what to do the following day he took us to Ouarzazate to meet his son (also aged 5) and spend the day visiting together so the children could play. They also helped organise the transport back to Marrakech via the Telouet valley - we had a really great time visiting caves, salt mines, the Kasbah and Souk at Teleouet... We really felt welcome and all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating of the children. I would really recommend staying at Defat Kasbah.
