Oakwood Hamlet is nestled in mountains away from crowded Shimla. It is connected with the main highway and is about 45 minutes earlier than Shimla while driving from Chandigarh.

The place is secluded in foothills with no intervention from tourists which makes it an ideal place for a family get together where no one else matters other than the nature itself.

The resort is neatly maintained and staff is courteous. Once in the resort, there are many things to do which the resort management can arrange on prior notice,

Food is nice and options are available basis your request.

The best part is a small pool within the resort which no other resort in Shimla has, kids will enjoy this in Summer's for sure.

Great place with value for money,

The facts of this visit are: there was no water in the pool, there was no wifi, no cold beer and the rooms were not clean. Especially pillows and bedsheets were dirty. Having said that, the staff was very friendly and the food was fine. A nice guide took is for walks. There are nice views which give you a great outdoor feeling.

Will strongly recommend this place to be avoided by family. On entrance to our room, we found that it was having flies and not proper cleaned. The swimming pool water was dirty with rain water of night before and without any mechanised cleaning system. We got the true feeling of jungle resort in the night when we found visit from spiders, flying insects and bettles while sitting in garden outside dining hall. Dining hall was open without protection from flying insects scaring you while having dinner. The food was of low quality with limited menu and poor management in serving by limited staffs. Though the review of the scenic location does attract but due to bad management and safety concern this place should be avoided by families.

This is not a report but a very small facility more like a home stay, poor facilities , moderate location with nothing in the vicinity for 4 km, surely not for travelers without a car with them.

The " resort " comprises of 3 small buildings with 2-3 rooms each and few bamboo huts in an area which is very very small and lacks any common place or view. The pool was not clean, the the common areas other then the reception was poorly maintained. Weird meal timings ( Breakfast 9 AM, Lunch 2 PM & Dinner not before 9 PM) the staff however was supportive at individual level at did whatever they could do.

Now the most horrible piece, this place is more like a pit stop for groups from nearby areas/ towns wanting to have booze parties or loud gatherings. There was a large group of 20-30 people staying during the same time... they would disturb other guests in the hotel, shouting foul abuses at each other in the common areas, DJ playing until 1 AM in a 2 acre area, drinking& smoking in the open / common sitting areas every evening after 7 P. M ( Not sure if they have a bar license) ...the management did not do anything to deter this mob mentality and be fair to other guests who had paid to stay and enjoy a vacation.

In summary this place is NOT what it is advertised as, it is very clumsy (moderate rooms), small, very basic and lacks facilities for its price. I would not recommend it to any serious traveler with family or kids or older people..
