The rooms are terrible, so is the gym. The pool is ok. Food is also decent. It's by the lake, but in between all the trees, you don't see any lake. Never stay here. Better to spend another couple of bucks for Jehan Numa.

It’s proximity to boating point and van Vihar is a plus . Overall this is a government run hotel which you can compare with the service you get in any government office.
Very old rules with no flexibility. Front office staff is cooperative tough.
Overall decent stay

A couple of small issues, but this hotel is generally very good quality.
It impresses as you approach and then even more as you enter their large open foyer area.
The staff were helpful & fairly attentive although they were distracted by a large birthday party function which quickly spilled out from their function room & took over the lounge & bar areas etc. The staff also struggled with using English but this should not really be a complaint but I guess we have been spoilt throughout most of our trip with such good English elsewhere.
The swimming pool was out of action & was going to be for a while. The pool had a large area around it, But no sun beds at all & only a couple of chairs.
The hotel does not have any other outside space / garden etc to rest either if you return early from sightseeing or are taking a couple of hours break.
Directly Outside our room there was a drain smell, which fortunately we could not detect inside. We did not bother to mention it as drains are often a problem, but they knew of course so they regularly put a jos stick burning in a flower pot outside our room to combat the smell.

The hotel is good but overpriced.
The food is great. Location is great. But the property is old and in need of renovation. Service is decent, but the staff consists of middle aged, pot bellied men. They might even look intimidating, but are rather mild mannered.
Swimming pool and gym were under renovation, so can't comment.
