Customer service was good. However, a bunch of construction workers and long termed stay there. The ceiling was water damaged and it looked like the upstairs bathtub was gonna fall through the floor. At least the pool area was open. Not recommended for families or women.
We decided to take a detour back home from the 101 freeway ( always a delay/ lane closure)
and stop by the James Dean Memorial in Lost Hills,CA. (Drop in to 'East of Eden 'Homemade Fudge- wow- really good!) Travelling with our little dog, so it's Motel 6 for the night. A relief, as the High was 104 today. New A/C which we ran round the clock. Worked great! Microwave, fridge, and free Wi-Fi- A bonus as most motel 6 will charge you for wifi. Not much to see in Lost Hills, so we went down to the pool. Little wild frogs 🐸 around the pool area which the kids loved. No worries, they aren't in the pool. A good half-way stop.
I stayed here with my two young daughters on driving trip to Southern California. The rate was good and the room was basic and adequate. There were few maint. issues I noticed, but probably typical of a Motel6. The property is next to a truck stop, so we asked for a room away from that. The front desk clerk was very friendly and let us pick which room we wanted from what was avail. while we looked at the property layout.
The dicey part was some of the other guests (who appeared to be from more than one party) drinking beer and swimming in their clothes in the small pool. They seemed harmless I guess, but one of them got a little too friendly for comfort with my kids in the pool so we were quick to wrap up our swimming fun. It was close to bedtime anyways. I don't know if this is typically of the clientele this motel usually has -- maybe so with the truck stop just across the street.
The wifi included in the rate was nice convenience -- and it worked well during our stay. The ice maker also worked well and the property was easy freeway access in/out, so it was quick for us to get loaded and back on the road in the morning.
Seems to be favorite spot for laborers to stay and unwind. My room was facing pool and had a bbq going until late. Guess it was managers children playing outside room making lot of noise. Noisy truck stop across street. It was clean, maybe too clean as whatever they used to clean room had a strong smell and I left door open to air room out. Have stayed at another Motel 6 with same strong smell. On the positive side it had microwave and fridge. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. And staff was friendly as I had trouble figuring out "key" to room.
This is just in the middle of nowhere, a place to stop between LA & SF Bay Area if you can't leave LA till later in the day. Try to make it another hour or so to the Buttonwillow Motel 6 if you can. The pool here was nice, good sized, kids had a good time in it, but it's so blasted hot out here the pool is like a bathtub, similar to pools in AZ. Place seemed clean, very small rooms, great to have fridge/micro, there were a lot of very tiny (almost microsopic) bugs on the floor here, because, as usual with a Motel 6, the door is to the outside, I think it would be difficult to truly eradicate these little guys, and it's the desert, people, so it didn't really "bug" me that much. Do you want the teeny tiny harmless bugs or the major pesticide it would probably take to get rid of them? Stop, eat dinner from your cooler, sleep, move on...
