The overall rating I gave should not necessarily deter you from staying here. The hotel was adequate in pretty much every way, but as a business traveler, I weigh certain amenities differently than if I was rating for a personal stay. I chose this hotel because it was moderately priced and relatively close (15 minute drive) to the office in Sunnyvale. As it turns out, the traffic from this location is really bad. It actually took me about 5-10 minutes less time than when I have stayed in Fremont which is much cheaper generally. Just across the road to this hotel is a giant sign for a local shopping mall giving the impression that you might have several restaurant options. It is not the case. It requires a car to get anywhere to eat from this hotel unless you want to use the restaurant in the hotel itself.
-Gorgeous outdoor pool area
-Standard sized rooms plenty big enough for business travelers
-Respectable desk and chair for working
-Nice lobby, very comfortable for waiting on your ride
-Two real (not on the lamp) outlets and USB ports on one side of the bed.
-This hotel is visibly out-dated. I had to hunt around to turn on the lamps only to realize that they used the old toggle switch on the cord that I haven't seen in years
-There is no refrigerator
-The concierge lounge is extremely limited and alternates for breakfast with oatmeal or scrambled eggs (on one day another guest actually asked me what "that was" referring to the eggs - they aren't great
-The fitness room is adequate, but it's not quite big enough for business travelers. The room gets very crowded early on weekdays and weeknights. With only 3 ellipticals and 3 treadmills that are fully occupied it was especially frustrating that one of each of those machines was not functioning. If you don't exercise, then none of this matters to you.
-I only checked the floor I was on (and the lobby), but on the 9th floor, there is a low ceiling when you exit the elevator. I'm pretty tall (6'7") and if I'm not paying attention, I'll hit my head on it.
-The remote control in my room was not responsive to channel changes making it difficult to really channel surf.
-Not a huge deal, but this hotel uses old clocks and mine was still on Daylight Saving Time. I use my phone to wake me up anyway, but there were a few panicked moments when I would glance at the clock and think I was an hour late.
-The shower gets plenty hot but the sink does not, so I had to shave in the shower.
