The positives;
1. Hotel staff was very friendly and professional.
2. Hotel is close to the bay and walking distance to the embarcadero and most shops and restaurants.
3. Parking was easy and most of it was covered. Some rooms overlook the parking area.
4. Breakfast was decent.
5. Our room was large, updated and clean.
6. Small workout gym but functional and clean.

Negatives;
1. Our room (209) was located overlooking the parking area and you could hear everything from screaming about baggage to car locks all night long.
2. I am not sure if the room above us was a guest room or utility room but it had very little sound proofing and the floor squeaked every time someone walked across it or dragged furniture, which was all morning and late into the night.

All-in-all, we would stay at this location if again.

The positives: Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is a good size but no suites. The mattress is good with two pillow choices. Location is within a one block walk of the embarcadero shops & restaurants. The breakfast is good; well stocked including granola, yogurt, eggs, sausage. They do not have boiled eggs and the bananas were over ripe. There is a well equipped fitness center only lacking free weights. The hotel is quiet with only a few seals barking for noise.

The negatives: Coffee is not available until 6:30 AM. Breakfast is available at 7 AM. The room coffee made by the Krug is not particularly hot. The furniture is a bit dirty; the fabric on the ottoman was torn. The single ply toilet paper and the fee for not returning the plastic key made me feel like an Accountant was VP of Marketing. The parking spaces are narrow with posts between many of them. A large SUV requires skill and patience to park. There were no towels on the towel rack. They were in the vanity alcove on a shelf. This required a wet, slippery trip to retrieve a towel. The price at $228, including tax, is reasonable for the area...I guess.

From the friendly British front desk man with the freshly baked cookies (the female receptionist was also super friendly), to the amazing views, this hotel is such a gem. So much value for the price! It has a mini gym, and the hot breakfast is awesome. The room was clean. We had a view of the Morro rock, and could walk to all of the cute shops in Morro Bay. A lovely stay, and my husband and I would definitely stay here again. I'm actually scared my review will bring more people here and make them raise their prices, but they do deserve the business.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel following a four hour drive up the PCH from Santa Monica.

Due to jet leg from flying in from England the night prior we left Santa Monica early and arrived around 12:00 hrs in Morro Bay.

We were greeted by a white lady in her 40/50's who advised that our room was not ready yet, however would be at 14:00 hrs. We therefore decided to go to a local bar for a drink so we could waste some time then dump our stuff off in the room before heading out for the day to enjoy the Bay Area.

We returned at 14:00 hrs to which the same lady informed us that the room was not ready yet and when I asked if she could give us a time she informed 15:00 hrs. I said that we would be back again at 15:00 hrs to check in to which she advised that she could not guarantee it and that check in was at 16:00 hrs. We were not informed of this when booking and if told at the point of arrival we would have structured our day more effectively. We left the hotel a little upset with this lady due to all the confusion over the room and also trying to figure out why she had advised us to come back at 15:00 hrs if she couldn't guarantee it?!

We went out again for second time not really wanting to stray too far from the hotel due to the room situation and that we wanted to change for dinner.

We arrived back at 15:30-15:45 hrs as we had run out of things to do for the short time we had. We we're now met by a different receptionist. This was a black lady in her 30's.

This lady was excellent and clearly passionate about her role, unlike her colleague. When we arrived she enquired to whether we were checking in to which I advised that we had been in before etc and we're hoping that the room was ready. The lady advised that the cleaning staff had left a while ago and that the room was ready to go... she provided us with loads of information and we were both happy with the service she provided.

The hotel room was clean and large. Only issue was that the gym seemed to be directly below us on the 2rd floor. This meant that as soon as someone used the treadmill a loud thumping noise was heard in our room. If we had been staying anymore than a night I would have complained about it.

I have given this rating a two purely because of the issues at check in. It truly felt that the initial lady was becoming stubborn over the check in time to release the room to us. There were no other people checking in when we were and no one was in reception when visited to enquire about the room. I just believe that when working in customer service and you know your guests have arrived early a call to housekeeping to move them to the top of the list to clean the room goes along way. It really didn't feel that we were being looked after and really did waste a lot of precious time in a location where we only had one night.

Dear Guy B, Thank you for your feedback. I apologize on behalf of our entire staff for failing to exceed your expectations. I have spoken to the staff members you encountered and have made sure they know how to handle the situation better for future guests. It is the hotels policy to accommodate all guests as best as we can. Check in time is not until 4pm, but if guests arrive early in town, we can usually get them into their room before then. I'm sorry this did not happen for you and we will be using your feedback to help with staff training. We hope the rest of your vacation went well. Best regards, Lacey

We go a realy great free breakfast every morning. Love it. Lots of food to pick from and was well prepared. Rooms were nice, clean and close to all the Morro Bay shops and water. Loved this place. It was easy to find and walking distance to everything in Morro Bay. Cant wait to go back. Priced well. Had a fitness center. Free newspapers and in room coffee, microwave and refrigerator.
