We just returned from the most Ah-Mazing staycation at The Alisal Guest Ranch! I have visited the property many times but haven't had the pleasure of staying. I have to say it was above and beyond my expectations! Because it should be mentioned, the C19 safety adaptations that they have made for guest and team safety are extensive. Our room was tagged before entry for having been sanitized, all major room amenities were bagged and sealed for sanitization as well as “ground rules” for everyone’s safety. The staff and overall hospitality is TOP SHELF, I'm in hospitality and my standards are high. It was my birthday and I was wished happy birthday by many of them.
The food is incredible, Chef Endy knocked it out of the park every time. The most tender of meats, fresh seafood, including lobster tail, fresh salads and grilled veggies. Their custom label wine is made by well known, top local producers. The grounds are beautiful and the ranch has SO much to do, we hiked twice and enjoyed a morning ride but we mainly relaxed at the pool which is just what the doctor ordered. We had planned to SUP or kayak on the lake but it was triple digits and we just didn't get to it early enough. We don’t golf or play tennis but that is an option as well. Their texting communication made it easy to ask quesion I have recommended The Alisal to many over the years but now having stayed, I can speak on it so much more. Thank you Alisal and team for making my birthday most memorable, delicious and relaxing. I won't ding you for the extra pounds I'm sure I brought home...! Take good care and we’ll see you again soon…
This was our first real time away during the pandemic. My husband golfed, I went to the pool and enjoyed reading outside. The grounds are immaculately maintained and they have worked hard to make everything as comfortable as possible while also keeping you and the staff safe.
The food was outstanding and we dined outside. Everyone who took care of us was warm and caring. There were lots of activities and everyone seemed busy and content. There are some things that are closed for safety or for State of California mandates but it wasn't an issue to us. Thank you to everyone for making our anniversary trip special.
Family vacation to Alisal Ranch was our first visit, but it will not be our last! Everything the Ranch has to offer, and there’s so much to do and experience, far exceeded our expectations. The entire staff was great, and truly made us feel like welcomed family. All the activities we did (horseback riding, pool, petting barn, fishing, canoeing, standup paddle boarding, etc.) were so much fun and safe - everything was Covid ready - sanitized and very clean, lots of hand sanitizer stations and places to wash hands, nothing was over crowded and seating was very spaced out and/or mostly outdoors with plenty of shaded areas. The dining and entertainment were also top notch - wonderful quality meals, safely prepared and served by friendly and attentive staff. Also very impressed with the quantity and quality of entertainment ranging from a rodeo, nightly live music, storytelling, etc. Cabin was very comfortable, updated and tastefully decorated. Thank you Alisal Ranch!!!
Moving to Southern California 2 years ago my husband and I have planned a weekend getaway to The Alisal. It was great, but we felt something was missing ... our family! It is a place that you bring your family...your whole family.
So two weeks ago we looked at planning a weekend getaway with our daughter and her husband and their two kiddos (1 & 3). It's COVID, yes, so we didn't want to get on a plane and The Alisal seemed to have COVID and compliance all worked out.
AND ...they exceeded! Exceeded requirements and expectations all around. Our rooms were spotless, and almost everything was contactless. Kinda hard to ride a horse without touching it! Ha! But you are naturally socially distanced on a horse..saddle to saddle!
Upon arrival we made our 2 hour pool time reservations, riding reservations, and any other daily activities(note to self, you can do that before you arrive!).
Meal times were more delicious that ever. Everything was set up outside. Each table was more than 6 feet away from others and families tables were preset for you to arrive ANYTIME during the meal service (no reservations needed...AWESOME!). Whoa...did they ever knock the contactless buffet and food options out of the corral! Delicious!!! Seriously scrumtious. The 1 & 3 year old looked forward to eating and then playing in the grass when they were done. There was a band or music every night...all family friendly.
The "jacket for dinner" rule was relaxed with no dress code! AND WE HOPE THAT GOES WAY BEYOND COVID .... Makes so much sense at Camp Alisal! Some great changes evolve in pandemics!!!! Thank You!
We did not miss our daily housekeeping due to COVID adjustments and reducing the daily contact. If you had housekeeping requests, they were handled with a little form and handled to perfection. More towels, more bath products, no problem! They were at you doorstep ...that day!
The lead ride (noted for 5 years and over) accepted any child who was willing and not afraid....our 1 & 3 year old LUVED it. It was offered 3 times a day...they made it two times a day. The farm staff were on top of their game, responsible and friendly. They knew the kids names after the first visit.
Okay...I better stop. I must sound like I work for The Alisal by now. Nope! No such luck! But...had such a good time, upon check out we booked our whole family 5 rooms for Labor Day 2020 weekend.
Saddle up and get to The Alisal.
The Alisal is an exceptional Ranch. Great for the entire family. The cabins have been beautifully renovated. Our cabin was number 70 and the decor was early ranch / native american theme. The quality reminded me of staying at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Real fireplaces and fire pits. The horses, farm animals and access to all of the ranch amenities is really overwhelming. We arrived an a Friday evening and enjoyed the Rodeo, dinner outside, beautiful sunset etc. Actually all meals are outside and the summer weather was perfect.
When we checked in I believe a Catherine and Janet helped us. All behind plexiglass and welcoming.
We took advantage of personal horseback riding with a guides (Catie and Clair) who were excellent. We utilized the Lake and fished, paddle boards and canoes. Beautiful setting with bald eagles, deer, wildlife in abundance. Randy and Keith helped us at the Lake and were great with the family.
Our reserved pool times worked for the family perfectly. The pool staff sprayed down the chairs with disenfectant after each guest left.
The food was delicious, fresh and plentiful. The bar and wine selections were great. We will definitely come to the Alisal again and highly recommend it for a family during these Covid 19 times. Everyone wore face masks and you felt safe at all times.
