Had a girls weekend with my 4 year old little girl. We stayed in the 5th wheel, since I have never done this before. We rented the 5th wheel since there was a shower but this was an issue but will get back to this. I like to do Pros first
Pros: The staff was really exceptional, the facility, campsites, and pool / pool area was clean and clear, great snack shack, very nice and happy co-campers, the lights set up at night at all the camp sites simply AWESOME, hayride was really fun (as a suggestion..would be outrageously cool to do hayride at night when the campers lights are on), fun activities for kids, it is close to the last remaining Drive in theater who shows up to date films, big lots and feeling like the woods, great local activities such as hiking, state forest, kayaking, tubing at Satan kingdom, go carts and mini golf close and great restaurant (Chatterley's in New Hartford) Also...actually saw a bear walking down the road of the camp site! We loved all of these things. Can't say enough about all the pros at White Pines.
Cons; Really only major issue was about the 5th wheel we rented. Smelled funny the whole time we were there (no matter how many windows open or how much I cleaned... I cleaned everything ALOT), the fridge never actually became cold and leaked water the whole time, the bed was a 3 inch pad on the crawl space bedroom (my back will never be the same) and the shower (the reason I got this particular place) did not work AT ALL (I could not get the water to come out of the shower head). Good things are a big deck, great fire pit and nice location area.
With that said...I would come back to this location but would rent one of the cabin (they looked so cute from outside) instead of the 5th wheel. We had so much fun and my daughter still asks me when we are going back to her home in the woods. Thank you White Pines for making my first "girls weekend" with my little girl.
Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2015, Friday and Saturday night. We stayed in the 200 loop. It was $59 a night. I'd consider this a "no-frills" campsite. It has a small pond that we fished in and our dog swam in. The pool is large and is actually really nice, no lifeguards on duty. The area they designate as the RC Track is rather pitiful. As we were in a tent we had to use the public restrooms which were a bit of a hike from our site. The bathroom is small and the plumbing is old, you have to hold down the handle for about 10 seconds for it to flush. Both toilets were clogged Saturday morning, causing my daughter and I to use the men's room. As far as our site, it had water and electric, however, there were wires on the ground which to me, was a hazard. The spigot leaked constantly and sprayed upwards and sideways. Made for an interesting time brushing your teeth. As for activities we only participated in the wagon ride with our kids. It was long, about 20 minutes. I think 10 mins. is plenty, they got bored and it isn't the most comfortable ride. It was enjoyable getting to see the other sites though. Where we were located it was a quiet area, at least while we were there. People observed the quiet hours which we appreciated. The General Store is pretty basic, no ground coffee or coffee cups for sale.
Would we stay here again? Maybe. It's too expensive for what you get, but it was close to home for a quick getaway. The kids had fun, which is what mattered.
We rented side by side cabins, each has a potty, sink in bathroom, micro, min fridge (but not super tiny), full size futon, table with 2 chairs, sink in kitchen, heat, ac (we used both), double bunks with foam pads for mattresses, broom, wood deck, picknic table, charcoal grill and fire pit. Walking distance to bathhouse and all activities. Tractor ride and fishing great for kids, cool a bit cold but clean, evening activities for adults and teens, game room and small very essentail store. Great fishing pond, this is really in the woods, but cabins were fairly clean adn we were no worried about bears or racoons disturbing our sleep. Good family campground
My family and I have been camping at White Pines Campground for 6 years, The friendly combination of staff and seasonals are always there with a wave and a smile which keeps us coming back year after year. We enjoy the feeling of being welcomed every time we drive through the gates and leave the world behind. The campground offers a cafe, stocked store, fishing pond, game room and playground, recently renovated bathrooms and showers by the pool, plus a new pool liner. The sites are large and there are fun activities for younger children. All in all this is a great place to enjoy a fun family get-away.
White Pines is a family friendly campground with themed weekend activities that offer things to do for both kids and adults alike. The staff is friendly and helpful. The sites have plenty of room and are fairly secluded. I would recommend to anyone looking for that perfect wooded getaway.
