Small 1 bed room with no view. Only saw a wall. Room was clean, nicely decorated but dark. Having the view of a wall didn't help the lighting. TV, WiFi, A/C worked fine. Nice grounds, wish I had a view of that. Cold pool, hot tub warm but foamy. Didn't pay to eat there.
The front desk staff and housekeeping was very friendly. The location was excellent and within walking distance to the Outlet Mall. (Just over the Bridge) The Outlet Mall is enormous and spans for blocks. There tons of shops and eateries to choose from.
The hotel provided limited shuttle services to the Parks. You must schedule daily with the front from the available scheduled times. Once the shuttle is full it's full. There is also a return shuttle, limited times after 6pm, first come first serve. Uber and Taxi from the hotel was roughly $8-10 if the shuttle didn't work out.
The Pool is absolutely not heated. I'm not sure why it is advertised as such but it was literally freezing every single day of our visit. It felt as if they pumped cold water into it, even the sun did not heat it. The hot tub malfunctioned on a daily basis and was even closed one day of our trip. Unfortunately this was one of the selling points for us and we could not even utilize this amenity.
The rooms are tiny and dated. The bathrooms are so small that you could not even open/close the door and sit on the toilet at the same time. Our light in the bathroom flickered at times as if there was something wrong with the wiring in the fixture. The housekeeping staff were excellent and provided us with great service. The room were very clean despite the dated atmosphere. The space was fine for the limited time we spent in our room. The staff and other hotels guests were great. We never felt like we were in a "bad neighborhood" despite the budget feel to the hotel.
The service at the tiny snack shack/ coffee shop was not excellent. On one occasion we stopped in for some burgers, we asked about ketchup for our fries and the girl pointed to an empty dispenser. When we told her it was out, she didn't acknowledge us or seem to care. There was another occasion I had to ask the front desk if anyone was working in there after waiting several minutes alone in the shop. I was told "There should be" and sent back to wait. (The employee was outside smoking --Just a Tip for your staff... tell someone. You know that you are leaving...outside...on a break. So that when someone asks, they aren't completely oblivious of your absence.) Another time I waited while another girl struggle to assist 2 people in line in front of me, before I finally left without purchasing anything. It was apparent she either needed more training or the job was not a get fit for her. She seemed to struggle to multi-task and watching her struggle was borderline frustrating. Fortunately this was my last day, and I'd never have to go back again.
We have just recently returned from 8 nights at this hotel and I just felt that I had to leave a review as reading some of the others I wonder if we were even in the same hotel.
The location is fantastic if you plan to visit Universal which is a 20 minute walk away thus saving you the $26 parking fee each day or you can use the complimentary hotel shuttle which runs quite a few times each day and is easy to book. Be aware that it is on a busy road so there is a little road noise, however we were in a pool facing room so weren’t disturbed by it at all.
We were very happy with our room which was modern and super clean, as were the reception and bar area, the housekeeping staff are doing a great job and all of the staff that we encountered during our stay were very friendly and accommodating.
We used the pool and hot tub most days and found the area to also be very clean and safe with plenty of sun beds and pool towels.
Thank you so much for providing a good quality, well priced hotel, we hope to return for another Universal fix next year and fully intend to stay at this hotel again.
The worst place I have stayed in my life.
Constant noise from machine rooms particularly in the early hours of the morning, seemingly from the pool pumps/machinery.
Loud noises throughout the night from ice machines, juice machines and extremely drunken guests who will wake you repeatedly all night.
Condescending and obnoxious staff.
General smell of bacterial infection.
Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. Plenty of other hotels in this area.
This hotel has a great location for Universal. You could walk in 20 munutes, but they run a free bus there and back a few times a day. Disney is further but again they have a bus and an uber is between 15 and 20 dollars. The rooms are clean and have what you need for a pleasant stay. The beds for me were very uncomfortable and i don't know how many times either myself or one of my family hurt themselves on the wooden base with very sharp edges! The pool area really does need attended to, the furniture is worn and tattered and many times the hot tub was just very unsanitary. Although we only really went to the pool in the evenings after spending all day in the parks etc it was good to go in and relax for an hour or so, it would've been nicer to relax in better surroundings. All the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately we were with Thomas Cook and we stayed in the Clarion when they went bust. As a result of this people were locked out of rooms and had money taken without there consent from there accounts by the hotel. I took most of the money from my account when I heard of this, but the hotel did manage to take what i left remaining, which wasn't much, however i did not learn this till i arrived home and checked my account. They never uttered a word, not even when i was checking out. Completely unacceptable! Which is why I've only rated a 2.
