I stayed at Lowe's last year during the Thanksgiving holiday season and didn't have the best experience, loud, obnoxious neighbors on the 5th floor we got no sleep for 4 days as they were on their phones in the hallway at 3 a.m. on on every night and I didn't want to complain at that time as you never know who your neighbors in a hotel are.
I really liked the hotel, the warmth in the lobby, with the bar the fire places the tv's and all the action going on during normal times, so we decided on our trip this year we decided to give this hotel another try as it is so close to my son's apartment it's just so convenient to stay here. They also have a Starbucks near the lobby which is a plus.
I called to book my reservation and I spoke to Koba who was one of the front end managers, I explained what happened the previous year they looked up my reservation to be sure I had stayed there then she reassured me that my stay this time around would be a much better experience than the first time we stayed. Of course there is a pandemic going on so the hotel capacity is only 30% which is also a huge help for all the noise we endured the first time.
She went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and had no issues this year. We were given a room on the 10th floor overlooking the river which was beautiful to look out the window. She also asked if we wanted house keeping daily, every other day or not at all. We opted to make our own bed every day and avoid the risk of contamination or germs being spread of someone coming in to clean daily which we felt the most comfortable with.
She assured us if we needed new towels, more shampoo, coffee pods or anything else they would be more than happy to provide.
Our stay was quiet, relaxing and quite nice. We slept great this year as the beds were comfy with lots of pillows and the air conditioning worked great. Plus the room darkening shades really helped us not be up at 6 a.m. like at home we were able to sleep in a bit longer.
The entire staff had masks on, some wore gloves and all were very personable, however the bar in the lobby was closed as was the restaurant. But we were informed upon check in that the pool, and gym were open till 5 p.m. with limited persons at a time and they were doing drinks on the roof outside.
Koba did everything to make sure our stay this time was a good experience. We seen her every morning when heading out for the day and she always asked how we were and if we needed anything. I'm glad we decided to give this hotel a second chance as it did not disappoint this time around. It exceeded our expectations for sure, was just a bit weird seeing the lobby so empty now with the pandemic going on but everyone wants to remain safe so we get it. It was just a different vibe from the hustle and bustle last year when it was loud with excitement and everyone drinking having a great time.
I would definately recommend this hotel if you are visiting the city or have business in downtown Chicago it's close to alot of things, the water, restaurants, stores etc. We enjoyed the hotel a great deal.
