I never got the chance to review this place.
It's only now that recalling this after being prompted with my travelling companion that we spent the ends of summer here with the sky painted in red, walking on air amongst beautiful scenery in an amazing suite.
The place accommodated a late checkout, the pub food looked and smelt good and was packed out which is a good sign. We'll have to remember to book a table when we're back.
Watch out for walking into the wall in the night. It's the country, what do you expect?
It was the perfect serendipitous getaway, surrounded by vistas over the UK that makes you feel like you're at the beginning of something new.
Spent 1 night here stayed in the Arkle room - very nice but the shower was a bit weird being in the bedroom! Lovely comfy bed and nicely decorated and the room very clean. Would loved to have stayed a 2nd night but unfortunately they were fully booked & I can understand why, the pub itself is exactly what a country pub should be, it was packed so obviously very popular. The dinner we had was really nice, a genuine choice for me being a vegetarian which was amazing. Breakfast was also good, cooked to order & hot. We would certainly like to return the staff are lovely too.
One night stop over and The Green Dragon Inn was perfect. The bedroom was tastefully decorated and doors opened out onto private patio area. The food was amazing - we ate both dinner and breakfast. Would definitely stay here again
We stayed at the Green Dragon after an event in Cheltenham, having had wonderful meals there a couple of times before. When we discovered that they have accommodation and include welcoming dogs, we decided to give it a try. It was better than expectations! We were extremely comfortable and delighted to find our room opened on to a garden exclusively for the use of visitors and their dogs. We could not have been made more welcome or more comfortable. One thing to note is that while we had absolutely excellent accommodation, a rather tall young man to whom we were speaking at breakfast found their bed on the first floor was a little short and the bottom rail got in the way of his feet. Our bed had no such feature so we were exceptionally comfortable in our ground floor room. I would go there again like a shot and will do as soon as the possibility arises...
Magical. We've been to the Green Dragon for lunch before, and needed a place to say during a visit to Cheltenham. Our ground floor room overlooked the garden at the back of the accommodation block, which is separate from the pub and it was superb in every way: spacious, extremely comfortable, well appointed, spotlessly clean and with French windows opening on to the lawn - ideal for our dog. Breakfast - by a log fire - was really delicious including Gloucester Old Spot sausages and other local produce. In every way this was a truly positive experience and we can't wait to get back there next time we have to be in the area.
