Delightful small cabin, beautifully and simply finished... Just lovely! Spotlessly clean one room cottage with shower and sea facing deck... Each with a globe, books and records! There's a pool and firepit for those who want them... A hipster's paradise!

We needed one night's accommodations for my wife, my 18 year old son, and myself. We were able to book a motel room with a Queen size bed and a sofa sleeper, for which we were grateful.
Overall, a very nice place, and staff was friendly and accommodating! I would have no hesitation recommending this motel.
However, I should warn that the room becomes quite small when the sofa bed is in use. To the point that I had to crawl (or make a large up and over step) to get past the end of the sofa bed from my side of the queen bed - the two touched at an angle. Also, the toilet is in a quite small bathroom - had to sit at a slight angle to fit. To be fair, we are not the smallest people around (my son and I are 6'1")
I do not hold any ill will towards the proprietors on these points - they clearly were making great efforts to provide in the older building footprints (and the room was well kept, too!)

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night while on a quick road trip down the coast of Maine. We loved it! We booked the Classic Cabin. The best and pillows were comfortable. This is not a luxury stay by any means. There is no TV, which we loved. There was no AC, but we were fine sleeping with the windows open. Fans are provided in each room but we didn't need it. The cabin is small and you have the essentials- everything is no frills- though the provided MALIN+GOETZ amenities in the rooms were a very nice touch.

The grounds are very nice. Our room had a nice deck with chairs and great views of the ocean. The common areas are lovely and beautifully decorated. There is great coffee in the mornings and tea/Nespresso available 24/7. The pool looks nice, but it was a bit too cool for us to enjoy it.

There are games in the common room as well as a fire pit that you can use and some grills. I'm sure that can be really fun to take advantage of if you are staying longer.

This is a great spot to unplug and relax. We want to come back!

Mid Coast Maine, Maine16 contributions9 helpful votes
Read the piece in Downeast recently about Alice Amory who decided that an old motel (motor court) in Lincolnville held her future. Maine, one of the few places where these funky roadside rests persist, is graced with overnight stops of every stripe. This old motel was long past its prime, but has been reborn as a hip, cottage-style, historic/modern creation. All painted white, it is simplicity itself, wonderful attention to detail in what is provided and what isn't. The 'queen room' in the motel wing was spotless, ocean in the distance, sea air wafting in the door in the early hours of day. Furnishings are minimal and perfect, including the record players and a selection of books. (A great record and book library exists in the common room on the first floor.) Here, you're out of the fast lane and life does move more slowly. You can float in the pool, breathe the air, use the wifi near the office or make yourself an espresso. You have everything you need. Mini-fridge, hotwater, outside decks, a chance not only to turn back the clock, but to step into peaceful surroundings. A more thoughtfully designed approach to overnighting can hardly be imagined. Alice sets a new standard for modern comfort with the preservation of roadside America's rich past. Kudos.

I can't say enough amazing things about this hotel. We have been traveling for 3 weeks along the coast and this is the most comfortable and beautiful place we have stayed. We stayed in a motel room. The hotel is meticulously maintained and spotless. The sheets are fresh, soft and I really enjoyed the duvets and pillows. The rooms have views of the ocean and there is a firepit, outdoor games, and lounge chairs to sit and enjoy the view. The pool is very clean and has fun inflatables. There are fresh flowers in the bathrooms and throughout the hotel. There is a large relaxation room with lots of natural sunlight and room to spread out. It contains tons of books on any subject you prefer. There is a water kettle and a Nespresso machine to make coffee or tea at your convenience. Each room also has a cute retro blue frig and a record player, which we really enjoyed. We really enjoyed listening to music, sitting outside on the deck, and hanging out in the relaxation room browsing the books and games. The entire hotel is decorated in a very cute, clean cut manner and we really enjoyed our stay. The owner brews a large pot of coffee every morning and it's the best coffee I've had so far on our trip. The coffee is very fresh and roasted here in town! The owner has paid attention to every little detail and it shows. They are very pet friendly. I highly recommend this hotel and you won't be disappointed. Your stay will be very comfortable indeed.
