We had six divers in our group, after arriving exhausted after our very long 28+ hour journey, we were so happy to find out the restaurant was open late! The staff quickly got us organized and our stuff to our rooms in the dark. We took a day off from diving the first day and just chilled, and then powered through 24 dives in 10 days. For us that is a LOT of diving. Our dive guides, Parta and Wayan, were awesome! They made our holiday. They catered to our needs, helped the ladies in our group get in and out of the water, carried my camera and picked me up more than once as I rolled around in the surf! Night dives can be tricky! All kidding aside they were really great. They showed us some incredible creatures and we got some great pictures. The reef right outside the resort is a really nice dive. There is an awesome anemone garden very close by with thousands of "nemo fish" in about 10 - 15 ft of water, we spent a bunch of time just chillin' in the surge watching the beautiful fish!

The resort is right on the water, so even though it was hot it was not unbearable, the breeze cooled you right down. The restaurant staff were very good, and the menu is pretty extensive and the food prices were good also. We like to drink wine and unfortunately on Bali wine is expensive, but we soldiered through with Bintang and some coolers from the shop down the street. You can buy beer, wine, hard liquor and various coolers there, as well as snacks or any small things you might need.

The grounds of the resort are well kept and have extensive gardens with shade trees so you can hang in the shade if you want. The rooms are very clean and functional, it isn't a five star resort as far as accommodation goes, but who needs a fancy room when you spend your days outside! We downloaded Netflix movies and TV shows and never watch one of them. We only slept in our rooms and spent the rest of the time either diving or hanging out by the pool, where you can be in the sun or shade.

We changed up our dive schedule a few times and the resort accommodated our changes without batting an eye. Parta said, "if you are happy, I am happy", awesome service! Our group is pretty experienced, so they let us dive as long as we had air. Most of our dives were well over an hour. The shallows by drop off, which is right down the beach, are spectacular with big groups of schooling fish.

The resort is located close to some good dive sites. The liberty wreck is pretty awesome and drop off is also very good and these are very close the the resort. The rest of the dives we did were a short car ride away. We did some "muck" diving and the highlight of my trip was getting a decent picture of the "shaun the sheep" nudibranch and pygmy seahorses. If you like macro or wide angle there are opportunities for both.

We also spent some time in the spa - all I can say is - amazing!! I had three massages while I was there, they were the best I had ever had. I also treated my self to a facial and pedicure, after we were done our diving, and they were fantasic also. The facial was also one of the best I had ever had. My skin was so happy for the extra care after 10 days of diving!

I would recommend this resort for sure! Suci was really helpful arranging things before hand and answering all of our questions. It was the best diving I have done to date, beds were comfy, food was good - what more can you ask for? We are hoping to go back soon!

We spent 9 days in the Matahari Resort and 4 nights with friends of us and our Kids in this lovely Villa and the two housekeeping Girls and the gardener where very nice, helpfull and friendly. Everything was perfect clean and the hole stay was top for Relaxing and diving. The garden is lovly prepared, the beach is nice and peacefull and the time in the pool and wirlpool was a dream for us and the Kids. We where prepered with tanks from the dive base in the Matahari Dive Resort and Spa and all the Service from the reception, the dive base, breakfast, Food and so on was easy organiced and fast if something was needed.
It is very easy to dive from the beach at the house reef and there are a lot of critters (hornet goastpipe fishes, frogfishes, Shrimps and nice corals and sponges.
As our son need a doctor the stuff organiced a transfer and a doctor close to us within 5 minutes.
There are also some lokations around the Villa where we are going to dinner in the evening, but we also often was pick up from a Driver from the Matahari Resort to spend time or the dinner in the Resort. The beach was clean and we loved to do some walks in the sunset in the evening.
So i must say that i havn´t seen a more peacefull and relaxed place in the past and when i stay next time in Bali than i will try to spend some more days in Suci´s Villa and in her Matahari Diving Resort.

Very reasonable price for a beach front budget resort that close to the famous liberty wreck. The rooms are big enough, clean and quite nice with little terraces as well. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Small but good enough pool including bar.
The Indonesian food in the restaurant is delicious, the pizza not really.
The dive center is professional and the guides experienced. It is also possible to just rent tanks and have them organize the porters which makes the shore diving around the area inexpensive.
Just don't do any waxing at the Spa, that was miserable.

We stayed at Matahari for 2 nights specifically to dive the USS Wreck. The room was basic, but clean. The mattress was uncomfortable though. We stayed across the street at the guest house which is cheaper, but you still have access to the pool and hotel amenities. The pool was sure nice to use on warm afternoons.

It met our needs for the two nights we were there. Tulamben is pretty quiet and relaxed, not a big tourist scene.
