Marriott is winning us back. This Courtyard is pet friendly, ultra clean and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are restaurants within walking distance and the cinema across the street. Everything about the check-in said the staff was taking into consideration how they were placing guests - placing the several large groups of kids sports teams together on pool level! - and the adults no kids or at least fewer- even w/pet - on upper floor. Thank you Staff!!! This allowed us all to enjoy each others company.
We stayed at this hotel while visiting family in the Winston-Salem area. Statesville was a good central location because people were both east and west of where we were staying and the Courtyard is convenient to both routes 77 and 40. It's also a good location for getting to restaurants in the area.
We booked a junior suite for this stay and were housed in a disabled room (I assume no guests with disabilities required it). Other junior suites might have somewhat different amenities and layout.
Our room was on the fourth floor (the top floor) and right next to the elevators. We were a little concerned about noise as rooms next elevators can be quite noisy , but we were at the hotel for three nights and never heard any elevator noise at all.
The room (and the entire hotel) has recently been updated with a very contemporary style (darker woods, indirect lighting, and contemporary accessories. The room had a mini fridge, but not a Keurig style coffee machine (there is an older style coffee maker) and no microwave. There was a large desk, a very functional clothes closet (with shelves and hooks) and a very comfortable sofa. We had a king size bed. The bed was the only real negative aspect about our stay. It was incredibly soft, which is uncharacteristic of American hotels these days. Each morning we woke up more tired than the previous and I left with a significant back ache. There were plenty of pillows, some of which were the larger size. There is a flat screen TV, which we did not use.
The towels were very soft and thick and there were plenty of them for the two of us. The water pressure in the shower was good, although temperature did vary somewhat according to the time of showers. The hair dryer was small but functional. There were plenty of outlets and the lighting was good.
The lobby is also contemporary and fashionable. There is a large television area with a big flat screen that was advertised as a gathering place for watching sports (several people were watching football Monday night when we checked in). There are also what appear to be small screens placed in areas around the lobby where smaller groups could watch individual choices of shows. There is also a business center off the television area that had several desktop computers. This is an open area and, while I did not use them, I suspect that noise could be an issue if they were being used for work.
The hotel has a fairly large bar area and breakfast and dinner are available there (breakfast is not included). We did not eat at the hotel. There is also an outdoor pool and a small exercise room (a treadmill, what looked like an elliptical, and some free weights). We didn't use either the pool or the exercise room.
There is a small shopping area across the street from the hotel that includes several restaurants, one of which appears to be a sports bar.
The staff was friendly and helpful. When I had difficulty accessing the Wifi the person staffing the front desk came up stairs to give me a hand. She had the problem fixed within five minutes.
This hotel has the friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced. Clean hotel and pet friendly. The pool area is amazing as well. Lots of food options around. Wish there was a microwave in the room, but I would highly recommend it!
Really nice hotel with new rooms, lobby pool/ outdoor area. The hotel has a bistro, which unfortunately, we weren't able to try. There is a small shop in the hotel, where you can buy snacks, medicine, drinks, etc.
The outdoor area and pool were nice, but one fault....The fire pit, it didn't work well, but they were supposed to fix it.
Also, there is NO free breakfast, I know most people like it, including me, but I can live without it. They have pretty good wifi, too.
The hotel is in a great location, near many resturants, The Signal Hill Mall (If you're into dead malls, lol), and semi close to the town square.
In conclusion, this is a great hotel to stay at, if you are in Statesville.
Well worth it!
My family of 5 stayed at the hotel for many nights. Everything was outstanding! Including a employee named Brianna, she folded our towels Into frogs and flowers every day we were out. Completely made my kids days and they would always see her through out the hotel and hug her! She went out of her way to make our stay great including bringing us pool noodles and pool toys! She changed our beds every day and made sure our messy unorganized room was spotless and in place when she left! You will not regret staying here at The courtyard they really do make you feel like part of the family!
