After a long drive the motel was an oasis to rest eat and sleep. The staff were excellent and made use feel most welcome. Highly recommend to anyone traveling. The pool was lovely, rooms were clean and gardens lovely
We came back because of a bargain basement price, so had low expectations, tempered by a vague recollection of a good stay last time.
What we found was much better than we expected. This motel is well outside the town centre (a good place to be in Moree), but well away from the Newell Highway, so the incessant trucks there aren’t a problem. There is a big pool with a well watered grass area around it, a nice haven from the drought. Inside the rooms are old, and the windows bolted shut, but we noted a new carpet on the floor and everything worked.
Pleased were we that the restaurant was open on the weekend, the service was very good, and the meals were great. They claim to be the best restaurant in Moree, and that claim is plausible.
Having ticked all our boxes, we’ve noted the Burke & Wills as out go-to place in Moree. We’ve tried others, paid a lot more elsewhere in town, but I reckon we’ve found our sweet spot here.
I stayed here for a couple of nights while working in the area. The motel is quite large, and is on the northern side of the town just beyond the business/shopping district. It has a pool. I was in a room away from the main road so it was very quiet. The air-conditioning kept the room comfortable overnight and I slept soundly. The room was on the large size and the bathroom was modern.
Wifi was available but was not strong and signal was not always possible in my room. Good broadband on my phone however meant that I could still download emails and listen to the radio. The TV reception was excellent and foxtel was also available.
The restaurant was open for breakfast during our stay from 6:30 am, although on quiet days, it can be room service only. Both continental and cooked breakfasts were available - simple fare but generous portions, although the coffee was not up to the standards of a 'city girl'.
Service was friendly and the staff worked to accommodate our needs. Worthwhile place to stop for a night or two.
We recently had a one night stop over at Burke and Wills. The location is off the highway so our sleep quality was good. The rooms surround a well kept grassy bbq/ pool area. It was lovely to be able to enjoy a refreshing swim after our long drive.
On the down side: our room was small compared to others we have stayed in. Bathroom dated and small. The shower curtain rail was quite low and my partner had to duck his head, which seemed ridiculous, he is an average height. Our continental breakfast, a bit over the average price we usually pay, as was the room rate. Have stayed in better quality for lower rates. Needs an update. Would only stay again if nothing else was available.
Stayed a night travelling through, great location pulled in at 5.30pm as travelling with a 5 and 3 year old, took them for a swim in a great pool that supplied pool noodles (floatation devices) for a cool off after our long drive, then took them for a fantastic meal at the restaurant at the motel. Great accommodation , great pool, great meals everything was not what expected. Great stop over. Will differently stop here again
