A delightful blend of tranquil gardens, warm generous hospitality and gorgeous old world charm.
As soon as we walked in we felt welcome and completely at ease with hosts Deanne & Toby. We loved their warm smiles, genuine conversation and delicious breakfasts and will be back for plenty more.
Our room was large and comfortable, beautifully appointed in the style of the home, but with all the mod cons.
The large gardens had pockets of quiet spaces, secret gardens to lose yourself in, and broad expanses of lawn. Moet, the resident peacock, a couple of kookaburra's a few rosella's and a swarm of cockatoo's brought music to the gardens at all times of the day.
The gorgeous period decor offered several different spaces to chill out, with a completely different view of the gardens.
We cant wit for our next visit, and strongly recommend Strathvea to everyone!
We have just experienced the most amazing hospitality at Strathvea Guest House.
All 15 of us had an absolutely fabulous time in this amazing house. We were all overwhelmed with its charm & loved exploring & getting lost in its many rooms.
We searched & searched for the perfect venue for this weekend (Mum's 70th) that could accommodate so many of us & Strathvea was it!!
We loved being able to cook up a feast on Friday & Saturday night & a huge cooked breakfast on both mornings. The kitchen is great! It had everything we needed. We all sat around the massive kitchen table and chatted & drank, ate and laughed while we all cooked up storm. Then moved in to the huge dinning room where we ate, drank & laughed some more. The entire house was so comfortable!
We loved enjoying many red wines in front of the many open fire places. Strathvea is seriously a Gem in the Healesville Hills.
Toby & Deanne were the perfect hosts, far enough away so we felt like we were left to our own devices but less than a minute away when we needed them.
I hope we can think of another reason to go & stay again sometime.
We stayed at Strathvea for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying in a clearly older but very comfortable and well maintained homely establishment. Our room with ensuite, and others we checked out, were beautifully decorated, clean and well appointed. The gardens and balconies surrounding the house are delightful and include several areas suitable for relaxation as well as being most picturesque, with many large and mature trees and open vistas, feeding areas for visiting birds and resident the peacock. Hosts Deanne and Toby were welcoming and friendly and provided us with excellent breakfasts on both mornings and advice regarding places to visit in the surrounding area.
Strathvea hosted our daughter's wedding last weekend, and the setting helped to make it such a lovely day. The wedding party plus the parents stayed for two nights, and Deanne and Toby were great hosts.
The guest rooms are excellent, with all the extra touches needed for a comfortable stay. Very comfortable beds. Our room was one of the Heritage rooms, where the old panelling, appropriate furniture and extra touches made it really special. The living rooms in the main house are all decorated in a 1920s style, and are just delightful. So many quirky items on display too.
Breakfasts in the large dining room were really well done, with self-serve cereals, fruit and yoghurt before being served hot food cooked to order. It was great for the 17 of us to sit as a group each day and bond over the delicious breakfast.
The garden was a magnificent setting for the morning wedding ceremony and photos. Deanne and Toby were so helpful with setting up and planning.
Part of the venue hire was the bar service during the reception and this was done so well too. An extra which was appreciated was the minibus service to pick guests up from their accommodation in Healesville.
The venue was perfect for my daughter's wedding, a casual, relaxed day.
A charmingly beautiful original guest house set in a picturesque garden over looking majestic forest. Each room is individually decorated with a flair for the past. The hosts,
Deanne and Toby provided warm accommodating service including wonderful meals that included as much organic, local produce as possible. As well as a great selection of Yarra Valley beers and wine. We were made to feel extremely comfortable and at home using their facilities. I loved every moment of my 2 week artist residency for the Toolangi Sculpture Trail.
