This is my first stay in an Element and the jury is still out based on this visit. I'm a regular Marriott guest with status and I realize this is supposed to be a bit spartan but the issues were not the actual facilities. The room itself was spacious and well appointed and I can see how this works well for longer stays, families etc. Room was generally clean and well thought out (see note about mattress below).
Now to the downside: service was just not up to par. This is oddly set up with one entrance to both Aloft and Element and no one is working the desk on the Element side (only a clipboard to sign your car in, no signage that says "go to the other desk.") So once you guess what is supposed to happen, a very un-interested person at the Aloft desk will half-heartedly check you in. No mention of your being a Bonvoy member (welcome) so I had to ask to be sure they had my member number. Halfway through this bad check in, she asked "how is your evening so far?" (Seriously?)
The room while seemingly clean and "pool view" which means you see the roof next to the pool). When I went to bed, I noticed a cloying "clean" smell like the spray freshener you might spray after a spill on furniture. It was late so I moved to the other side of the mattress and went to sleep. I suspect some accident happened with the mattress (pets allowed here,) and was sprayed over to cover it up. Hard to get that thought out of your head. I was only staying one night.
There is a light breakfast included which is a perk. There is a pool (though it was too cold for that anyway). Dog friendly (I don't find that a plus but others may.)
I think more attention to detail is needed here. Let's start with the desk staff like, having some.
This is the first 1 star review I can recall writing on Trip Advisor.
I am a Bonvoy platinum (titanium at the end of this week) and I have a confirmed king room pool view reservation at this hotel, but when I show up at 11pm they tell me they simply don’t have any more rooms and that I’ll be sent over the Aloft next door instead. To a smaller room, no kitchen, lesser amenities, loud, low floor(2nd floor) with no view. Then the front desk guy tells me my new rate at the lower quality Aloft is $220/nt. My original reservation at the Element was $175/nt. But he’s going to do me a favor and put in the same $175 at the Aloft..... the same price for less of a product.
I attempt to ask how this is right, given I had a confirmed reservation and I’m a loyal Marriott customer but neither one of the two people I talked to at the front desk couldn’t have cared less. Both replies were “yeah? Well I just got here so....” and shrugged their shoulders.
Terrible customer service, no offer to make anything right. Avoid it - I reserved and was charged for a Cadillac and they put me in a Chevy Cobalt.
I stayed in a king room with a sink, cooktop, and a large refrigerator. Modern clean design with a very nice lobby. Happy hour served complimentary white/red wines and an amber ale/lager beer. Olives bread and cheese was also served. I enjoyed the pool and fitness center as well.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by having a weekend staycation here and it was wonderful!
The staff was friendly and hospitable, especially Emma and Grant at the front desk. They arranged a nice amenity to be delivered to our room to celebrate our special occasion! I wish I got the name of the gentleman who delivered it to our room because he was also very kind.
The breakfast was delicious and the ladies who worked there the mornings that we ate there were also really nice (I wish I got their names, too!).
The room was spacious and quiet (you can't hear your neighbors or activity in the hallway), and the bed was super comfy. We chose to not have our room serviced by the housekeeping staff but they always smiled as we passed them in the hallway.
If I had to have a con, it would be the parking aspect. There weren't a lot of spaces at the front of the hotel (and a few cars that were parked in the front took up two spaces *eye roll*). There's a huge parking lot behind the hotel, though, with plenty of spots. There's no back entrance into the hotel but there is a side entrance. It's not a far walk and it's pretty well lit, but if I was alone and parked in the back, I would feel a little uncomfortable walking to the hotel at night.
Overall, we had a really great experience and would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a nice anniversary weekend! Highly recommend!
This was our first stay here, spending one night before catching a flight. The suite was spacious and new. Perfect for our family of 4. We had to request linens for the couch pullout but they delivered quickly. Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly. Not a lot of good restaurants close by and traffic can be crazy around that area so we just grabbed a quick bite at the next door Schlotskys. They airport shuttle drop off was quick as well as pickup. Never had to wait. That’s always a plus! Good experience overall.
