Our family had a great time @ Budget host, We lounged by the pool which was very relaxing and enjoyed the quiet wooded area, We also enjoyed the setting area on the 2nd floor. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
Wow this place was already really good before but now they've changes their name to Budget Host Killington.
Except for the name, it sure doesn't feel like a discount or chain hotel. We have been here in
- summer (great pool and hikes and concerts and picnics),
- winter (AMAZING skiing right there! Plus its hard not to feel cozy/romantic in front of a fire with a nice dinner nearby)
- and most recently in autumn (there are not enough words to describe the foliage and ambiance, so awesome will have to do)
They have the same friendly staff who really care that you're happy there. We booked our favorite room which had been freshly painted and looked great. One day it was rainy and we got some treats and wine at the general store down the road and lazed around for several hours - the televisions are now on cable with 80+ channels and we never get a chance to watch with our crazy home schedules. And those beds are VERY comfy!
We've visited here more than 1/2 dozen times like to stay on the second floor - it's a bit quieter then the first. Oh as an added bonus, the continental breakfast is basic, but more then enough to get going in the AM ... we like to have coffee and a bite before heading out so that we can have a big old Vermonter meal (say yes to anything with local syrup)! This last trip was just us (a couple) but we've stayed here with family groups and friends too ... never a bad experience at all!
This is a great value price / quality wise and it feels like a real vacation even when we stay just 2 nights ... Clean, Comfortable, Stuff Works, Nice Folks, Amazing Location and the Price is Great!
This hotel looks like it used to be awesome 20 years ago. Some cool looking old ski decor on the walls here and there. A library upstairs. Looks like the remains of what used to be a fun lounge with fireplace and game room. Sadly that appears to all be in the past. I will say, the bed was comfy and pillows were decent, but the good news ends there. Total of 8 tv channels on the old tv. Peeling paint wallpaper, trash behind the nightstand. Green and yellow pool, (see the pics, i am not kidding) that was clearly not safe, yet they kept it open. Broken pool chairs, electric wires near the edge of pool. People actually live in this hotel, i can tell you that from first hand knowledge of them talking to me about it. Advertised hot tub was empty/not operating. Warning signs for bears (and if you see the dumpster picture, it is no surpise) Lots of trash all over the ground by the dumpster. Some may be from an animal, but much of it was clearly intentionally left there by humans. Girl alone at front desk could not answer any of my basic questions (first day solo?) Only paid $45 but honestly, i would not do it again. Honestly, i would pay that to camp out before i would to stay here again. I was not expecting much at this price point, but i was not expecting this either! Not safe, not recommended.
Stayed one night. The hotel is in need of an update desperately. Everything is adequate and fairly clean. Disappointed that the hot tub in the lodge didn't work and the one out by the pool we were told, "it hasn't worked in decades". The continental breakfast was pathetic so off the Dunkin we went. Wouldn't suggest anyone go there unfortunately. The place is dark, unwelcoming and smells stale.
I was very dissapointed and felt very comfortable in this lodge. Very small, very outdated, ac didnt work in room, called front desk asked for a fan and he brought a small personal fan, one lock didnt lock, phone didnt work in room, wallpaper peeling, walls and floor so thin you can hear every little step and sound. Said not smoking but the hallway smelled like weed!!!!! Nothing next to hotel. The pool is so small. Not happy at all with stay. Will NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN
