Visited my son at W&L for Easter. Great location but my room was next to elevator, across from fitness center, and next to door toward lobby so very noisy and the room floor was all sticky and discusting in the carpet.

We stayed here for our daughter's wedding and were pleased with the services. The lobby of the hotel is in a former mansion, whereas the rest of the hotel consists of standard but large and comfortable modern rooms. The staff were very helpful with one exception (see below). The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. We didn't use the pool or the gym. The hotel is just a few blocks walk from historic Lexington. The one thing the hotel should fix is to have a consistent policy for early check-in. We were promised one so that we could get changed for the wedding but there wasn't one available when I arrived. That's fine, there are no guarantees. After being told to wait in the sitting area of the hotel, I heard a number of people who had just arrived being told their room was ready. I though initially that they must have had a different type of room than ours, but it turned out that whoever stands by the desk glaring at the front desk staff gets in first. Should be easy to keep track of what order the early check ins are. Other than that, great service.

The lobby is a beautiful historic property but the rooms have all modern conveniences. Fitness center is small but adequate for 1 or 2 people at a time. Breakfast was the typical Hampton breakfast-good variety and friendly staff on hand. Only down side to the whole experience was my first floor room opened to the outside so going to breakfast or the fitness center require walking outside. Just bad luck it was rainy and cold this trip

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review of our property. If you choose to stay with us again in the future, please make us aware of any problems with your stay prior to leaving the property so that we can make it right. We are only happy when our guests are happy. After investigating the issue, it seems the guest before you may have spilled their soda and unfortunately, it was missed when your room was cleaned. We take cleanliness very seriously and have refunded you the money you paid for your room and deeply apologize about the spill. We take great pride in our hotel and appreciate your feedback. Thank you, Jessica McCullough

Room was clean, fitness center, though small, was well-equipped and had a working TV, and front desk staff was polite. Just a few-minutes' walk to the downtown scene. Fresh cookies upon check-in, and front desk helped us identify a dinner spot.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and make it a mandatory stop each year on our trip(s) up and down the East Coast. It is a beautiful, historic property with a lot of character and ambience. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They are quick to meet your special requests and are very knowledgeable about the area attractions and dining options. The hotel is very well kept and immaculately clean. Our only caution would be to make sure you don't get the room right next to the fitness center as the guests like to get their workout VERY early in the morning. (This happened to us last year, so we were explicit this time when we made our reservation.) The surrounding area is very quaint and exudes a collegetown atmosphere. There are also many important local landmarks and points of interest to explore. The small and quiet downtown area has a number of interesting shops. We would highly recommend the Southern Inn for dining. An absolutely fabulous restaurant with a limited but well-prepared and delicious group of food offerings. Our only criticism with the hotel was that the breakfast menu that day had no real protein item (bacon, sausage or ham), so unless you were on a vegetarian diet that day, you were limited in your choices. I am sure this was just a fluke and that they have a more varied set of choices on other days. All in all, a very comfortable stay in a clean and friendly hotel... the hallmark of Southern hospitality.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of our property. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you have selected us time and time again! We are sorry that breakfast was unusual for you that morning of your most recent stay. We always take care to serve at least one hot meat item in addition to hot eggs, and always have chilled hard-boiled eggs as well. We will take extra care to make sure that a meat is always provided. We take great pride in our hotel and are so grateful for your kind review. We hope you visit us again soon! Jessica McCullough Director of Sales
